If Bevell favors Jackson, don’t forget the front office (Schneider and Carroll) paid a fortune to get Whitehurst. There will be a counterbalance between the sides.

The real issue is, if Whitehurst remains as mediocre a practice player as he was last year – Jackson wins by default. (unless Whitehurst lights up the preseason games and Jackson is average.)

I do not think TJack can practice until 8/4 when the league year opens. Charlie should get the bulk of the snaps in Game 1.

What I’ll find interesting is with what personnel they play with and against. Those things will tell us more about how prepared each is to start the season than a simple box score.

It seems his assistant head coach title isn’t just a nameplate on his desk, but an indication that he has more clout than the typical offensive line coach. It’s going to be interesting to see how the relationship between him and Bevell plays out.

T-Jack might have an edge with Bevell as OC, but is that really who’s going to make the decision?
