The NFL released preseason schedules for the league today, and the Seattle Seahawks will be playing some familiar opponents again this year.
Seattle starts preseason play Aug. 11 in San Diego against the Chargers in a Thursday night, nationally televised tilt on ESPN.
The Seahawks follow it up with a home contest against Minnesota Aug. 20, travel to Denver to take on the Broncos on Aug. 26 or 27 and finish off the preseason at home against Oakland on Sept. 2.
The Seahawks traditionally play against their former AFC West rivals in the preseason because of the closeness of those cities, making for easier travel.
The Chargers’ game will be the return of quarterback Charlie Whitehurst to San Diego.
Hopefully, the labor dispute is resolved by August so there will be a preseason.
I understand the NFL has given Inianapolis two dates for the Super Bowl in the event the game needs to be moved due to a delayed season.

Eric, do you think in the case of an extended lockout (such as through mid august), it would increase the number of injuries in the early part of the season. I know that most of the guys are working out on their own, but many still may not be following some of the regimented workouts that teams have for players and may lead to more muscle pulls and strains than we normally see in the early part of a season. Thoughts?

Beerbobj: I agree. That’s one of the reasons a lot of head coaches and general managers are concerned right now, because they have such a large financial investment in a lot of these players, and that cannot monitor whether or not they are staying in shape, or in the case of guys like Deon Butler and Red Bryant, how they are rehabbing from injuries. It’s another reason whey the league needs to get this labor dispute straightened out sooner instead of later.

These players are supposed to be professionals, if they can’t stay in shape then they deserve to get injured! Walter Jones never had a problem staying in shape after holding out. Why can’t anyone else do the same? Big spoiled over paid babies!

Staying in shape is less of a problem than getting into football shape that camps are for. My biggest worries are for injured guys like Butler and Bryant. I’m sure they are going to be doing everything they can to rehab properly but there is a big difference to what they can access and afford as compared to what the teams offer in those areas.

4 preseason games, so there’s no 18-game schedule for ’11. Did the season-ticket-reuppers know there were gonna be 4 preseason games this year?
