Tom Cable will be returning home to coach in his backyard.
The Snohomish native has been hired as the team’s new assistant head coach/offensive line coach, capping a whirlwind day at Seahawks headquarters today.
Cable had served as Oakland Raiders head coach from 2008 to 2010. And he’s a disciple of the Alex Gibbs and the zone blocking scheme.
No word yet what will happen with offensive line coaches Art Valero or Pat Ruel. And Seattle still has not hired a new offensive coordinator.
The Seahawks also announced Todd Wash as the team’s defensive line coach. Wash served as Tampa Bay’s defensive line coach and worked with current defensive coordinator Gus Bradley back in Tampa.
Also, assistant defensive backs coach Kris Richard has been promoted to secondary coach to replace Jerry Gray, and defensive quality control coach Rocky Seto have been promoted to assistant secondary coach.
