Blog commenter Mocarob put together this video in response to the national media picking the Seahawks to lose badly on Saturday against New Orleans. Check out the video below.

Green Bay and Philadelphia kick off this afternoon. If the Packers win, the Seahawks are headed to Chicago next week. If the Eagles win, Seattle is headed to Atlanta. So who do you want the Seahawks to face next week?

Who do you want the Seattle Seahawks to play against next week?

Also, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha’s contract will be voided out because of a little-known clause in the deal, making him one of the most sought-after free agents in the offseason. Should the Seahawks back up a dump truck of money at Asomugha’s door to try and lure him to the Pacific Northwest?

There are a few people who frequent this blog that bash Hasselbeck and the Seahawks–AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE– that should take the “bite me” message to heart, too.

I really don’t care who we play. It would be cool to avenge the loss to Atlanta, and it is real difficult to beat the same team twice in one season, but I really don’t care who we play as long as we play like we did last night.

    GO SEAHAWKS!

  2. I was going to comment on Oakland Raiders’ cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha becoming a free agent so I’m glad you posted something about it. I honestly don’t know much about him, except that he’s a Pro Bowl type corner.

What I do know is that CB is probably one of the team’s biggest needs. With the surprisingly decent/good play of Clemons and Brock. I feel that CB is our biggest defensive need. I’d still rate OL/OG and QB as higher needs overall, but I do feel the team needs to improve CB either through the draft or free agency in the offseason.

Regarding the 2nd round of the playoffs. I’d rather see Green Bay win today. For a few reasons. We beat Chicago in Chicago already this year. So that will give the team confidence. And overall, I think Jay Cutler is more likely to make mistakes in a big game compared to Matt Ryan. Plus I feel like we have a little bit of rivalry with the Bears, when we were both good in 05 and 06. And lastly, if we manage to beat the Bears and the Packers beat both the Eagles and the Falcons. We would host the NFC Championship game in Seattle. Crazy I know, but that would be amazing!

  3. Yeah, I agree with you on the Bears game Jefgcn, not that we’ve already beaten them, because they seem like a different team now, but I think we match up with them pretty decently, and I’d pick playing against Cutler over Ryan 100% of the time, he makes mistakes, Ryan don’t.

I posted something about Nnamdi in the last topic, but I’ll just repost it here if we are going to discuss it.

I don’t know what our cap situation is, but I expect some contracts to be looked at, and maybe some players released, but I don’t really care, Carroll needs to persuade him to come here, and they need to pay that man. They might still get him back, but I want us to pursue him with all we got, we need help in the secondary, and I don’t think you’ll find much better CB’s in this league.

“According to STATS LLC, Asomugha was targeted on just 33 pass attempts this season. He allowed 13 completions for 205 yards and no touchdowns,”.

I think it would be great if the Hawks would pick up Nnamdi Asomugha. It is a need for the team and he is one of the best. That would give them one less thing that they would need to get in the draft. It would just open up options for them.

Someone asked where the haters are today. I thought it would be fun to quote one of the late-appearing letsworkitout’s increasingly more blowhard-y and certain proclamations from late last week:

“The dumb cardinal comparison is funny. Really? The Cardinals had far more going for them the hawks. Hey, the hawks should accept their gift. They are in the playoffs for a game. Hey, nothing for me to get over, lol. I already know they are an awful team. No, I’m not a Giants fan, I just know what I’m looking at in the Hawks. I know some of you want to dream the dream, but they don’t even have a dream of a chance right now. You CANNOT win in the playoffs with gimpy linemen, shaky QB situation, little depth, and little momentum.”

    Cough.

While corner is such a big need, and he’s been really good, at 30 and coming off something of a down season, it feels a bit like a Ruskell signing to me. I can’t imagine Schneider would pay the kind of money he will command elsewhere. So inquire? Yes. But a ” dump truck of money”? No.

  7. Looks like the Packers are taking care of business, so Seattle will probably be heading to Chi-town. And hopefully they will avenge the playoff defeat of ’06.

  8. The only difference is that Asomugha can legitimately say he’s either the best or second best player in the NFL at his position. Ruskell overpayed the average to above average guys around 30. They may not have been near the best at their positions, but Ruskell sure paid them like they were! lol

He’s definitely the bigger, physical CB that Mr. Happy covets. He’s a high character guy too. The kind of guy you can trust to give a bunch of money to.

Physical skills decline at 30, there’s no doubt about that, but he’s already so much unbelievably better than almost everyone else that he can afford to have declining skills a bit and still be a Pro Bowler for a number of years.

Still, we can talk about this more when the season is over. March 1 is still a long ways away and we’ve got such a fun run going right now that it’s actually fun to live in the moment for once!

I say we stick with the plan, and start up the worm farm … err, I mean, we stick with jennings, and maybe see if we can get brian grant and russell back here too. Go secondary!

  10. Eric, any chance we can move up the “Recent Comments” section of the left sidebar. I use it a lot, but always have to scroll down. Can’t say I’ve ever used any of the other stuff on the sidebar.

I was just watching the NFL network and they were debating NFC playoff scenarios. They were saying the Packers could beat Atlanta and end up playing Chicago for the championship game. They all believed that the Seahawks had no chance against Chicago. Did they forget how well the Seahawks dominated them earlier in the year?

This is a quote “What happened last night, that was lightening striking. Lightening will not strike twice”.

    Go Seahawks!

  12. Ex-Seahawk players having a great day. Wilson had an interception, and covered the Cheifs receivers nicely, Tapp just forced a fumble that resulted in a Vick TD pass, nice to see old favorites of mine have some success.

  13. bayareahawkfan says:

Makes sense that NFLN tools are not going to give any credit to Seattle for the win. LOL, it was either a Saints loss, or force of God…

  14. The locker room video brought tears to my eyes.

After watching that, I like Seattle’s chances against Chicago (if it’s them).

  15. mocarob says:

Thanks for posting that. I have the HD version if anybody wants a copy.
    It’s a .ts file and 109mb

  16. Dukeshire says:

You forgot to mention he’s a Pac 10 guy, Carroll loves those too… And I don’t know that it’s a matter of trust with a big contract, but rather what can you expect in return (at least in his case). Is he going to be worth $35+ mill guaranteed for the next 4 years? (He may likely want more years, as well.) So by “Ruskell signing” I mean, you’ll be paying top dollar for a player on the back end of his career. It’s rare that corners get better or stay at elite level on the other side of 30 like Charles Woodson or Champ Bailey. But, it’s worth an inquiry for sure.

Perhaps it’s more accurate to say that it feels more like a Ruskell signing than what we think we know about Schneider (if that makes sense).

Wow, Matty’s son has a full head of hair!

    The nation loves the Hawks:

The Seattle Seahawks’ 41-36 upset of the New Orleans Saints on NBC earned the highest preliminary rating for the early Saturday wild card game in two decades.

  20. Dukeshire says:

I love Big Red front and center. Might be on IR but every bit a part of this team. Developed into a cornerstone player and a leader as well. Good for him.

  21. I knew what you meant:)

Schneider was part of the regime that signed Charles Woodson. Maybe lightning will strike twice.

Looking like we’re headed to Chicago and Jay Cutler and his INTs. After what the Eagles did to the Giants some weeks back, there’s still plenty of time to go though.

  22. SeahawkFan12 says:

Wow…bring on the Bears! I’m feeling pretty good about next week…

    GO SEAHAWKS!

  23. It’ll be nice to have an extra day of rest before the next game. I know Chicago had the bye, but I’d rather be flying high with 8 days between games than potentially stale sitting at home. I think the win yesterday was huge in terms of confidence and that’s so much more important than having a bye (not that a 7-9 team would ever get a bye… and really, in a perfect world I’d rather be 12-4 with a bye… but you get the idea of what I mean).

  24. Dukeshire says:

Woodson… he did actually. Well, you never know.

  25. Can Asomugha play vs CHI?

  26. nidhighe says:

Nice to see the NFL’s own network treating an NFL franchise with such disrespect. Guess Irvin was passing out the coke and weed to his co-hosts before the show.
