For a second straight season the Seattle Seahawks will not have a player competing in the Pro Bowl as the annual all-star game returns back to Hawaii this season.

The rosters were announced this afternoon.

The Hawks were one of two teams in the NFC to not have a player selected for the Pro Bowl. The other was Tampa Bay. Seattle is the only team in the NFC West not to have a player on the team.

Seattle’s last Pro Bowler was recently retired offensive tackle Walter Jones in 2008.

Seattle also added a player to the practice squad, defensive end Maurice Fountain. The Clemson product most recently played for the Hartford Colonials in the United Football League, and went to training camp with the Miami Dolphins in 2008

  1. I see that ex-Hawk Jason Babin made it – he sure turned things around.

It’s tough competition when Aaron Rodgers doesn’t make the top-3; not sure I’ve seen better quarterbacking from anyone not named Brady/Vick this season.

  2. I’m not too surprised at getting shut out. I have a feeling that Okung and ET will be playing in the game next year though.

I see Carl Nicks made the Pro Bowl. Good for him (UNL grad). I hope he’s making it for us along side Okung next season. Pay the man! The Saints won’t pay that much money for two guards, nor do I see them franchising a guard (if franchising an OL is even allowed in the new CBA).

I love Logan Mankins and think he’s Steve Hutchinson lite, but him making the Pro Bowl is a joke (I’d love to have him in a Seahawk uniform too). Not that he’s not among the top few guards in the NFL, but, jeez, the guy sat out most of the season in a contract squabble. How can a guy make the Pro Bowl when he wasn’t even activated to their roster until November 6? Basically, he misses the first couple of months and now he’s a Pro Bowl starter? What a joke.

Leon would be the only Seahawk how can make a claim for being snubbed. Hester’s hard to argue against though.

  4. Suh made it as a STARTING rookie DT in the NFL. Un-fing-believeable. Reggie White, Jr. (and, yes, I know White played end).

  5. Dukeshire says:

Suh can play any spot on the line. He’s great.

  6. So the two least popular teams didn’t get anyone in the popularity bowl.

    Big deal.

not a big surprise. Eric, do you know when the alternates will be announced? I imagine that Thomas, Washington, and Clemons have a good shot at being alternates (for whatever thats worth…) If healthy I think Okung and Thomas can book there pro bowl stays for about the next ten years in advance.

  8. bobbyk is a moron (not that some of you didn’t already know this)

Carl Nicks signed a 3-year contract after he was drafted in ’08. He’ll be a RFA this off-season and the Seahawks, or any other team in the NFL (except the Saints), will basically have no chance at him unless they trade some pretty good stuff for him. Uhhh…

Okay. Humble pie eaten. Time to hop full throttle on the Logan Mankins bandwagon! Even though he’s a bit like the typical Ruskell FA signing with respect to his age (he’s 28) he’s also different from a Ruskell signing in that he is legitimately one of the best players at his position in the NFL. Ruskell would pay guys who weren’t among the best as if they were among the best. A guy like Mankins actually should be among the highest paid at his position and I have no problem with that since he legitimately is one of the best.

Depending on the new CBA (are players going to be restricted for 4 years – like now, or at least up until last year when the weren’t – or 5 years) we won’t know if guys like Ryan Kalil and Sidney Rice are really going to be UFAs or not.

  9. Tampa Bay may have been shut out of the pro bowl this year, but their young QB may play in many pro bowls to come.
