Yeah, we are talking about a matter of degrees here.. Gibson or Andrews or Locklear... Hmmm... Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic? lol.

Seriously though, I don't see what Locklear offers any longer. I hope moving Gibson to RG is the first step in rearranging the right side to let Andrews move to RT. Time will tell. Likely won't make a huge diff at this point.

Seems like Seahawks are healthier this week than in a month or so. I hope they'll play well down the home stretch and remind us why we were optimistic back in September.

Stevos - Bates is timid? Lol. That's one thing I have thought.

You know, there is the very real possibility he'll never be that bulldozer again. 2 years removed from his knee surgery and he's still not the same player, positions aside (although he did play some guard in Cinci as well).

a few highlights showing how Stacy Andrews got his big contract in 2008. The Bengals were a bad team with some injured O linemen, but they knew they could run to the right side behind Andrews.

I agree that Gibson is a more natural OG than Andrews. My point isn't that Andrews should be kept at OG, but that he could provide run blocking at RT that Locklear cannot. Gibson is a little like Locklear - a technique player without a lot of power. Gibson next to Locklear pretty well eliminates any chance of running the ball to the right side.

I'm sick of Bates' timid offensive schemes where pass pro seems to be all that matters him. IMO keeping our QB's uniform clean is Not more important that moving the football. Andrews can absolutely bulldoze people when he's at RT. And, yes, he'll also allow a sack once in a while. Well I say "Suck it up QB!" So what if the QB gets hit a couple times a game, if it means Marshawn and Forsett can run for first downs and scores. I'm afraid that Pitts-Spencer-Gibson-Locklear are four guys who won't every win the LOS battle on 3rd-and1.

By next season, Stacy Andrews will be starting at RT in Seattle, or he'll be starting somewhere else.

Well, they weren't getting much push anyway (let alone great, IMO) so I don't know there will be a noticeable decline there. Actually, Gibson is quicker and more agile so I would expect him to be a more effective run blocker overall, in their scheme. But I do agree that putting Gibson there should improve pass pro, especially A and B gap blitzes that were left open by Andrews' lack of lateral agility.

Andrews is good RT and he's not a G at all. Name one good starting 6-8 G in the NFL? He is a good RT and proved it at Cincinnati, but he's not a great fit for the ZBS, and apparently Carroll still wants the ZBS fully implemented here. I think its a shame they won't just put him at RT in place of Locklear. Andrews actually has produced a great push in the running game at times. He's just too tall and big to pass protect well at G. At RT he size becomes an advantage.

With Gibson and Locklear now forming the right side of our line, don't expect much of a push in the running game on that side.

By the way, when did it become okay for reporters to announce these kinds of position changes before a game? Why doesn't Carroll keep these changes quiet until game time?
