We still have not received word on the Seattle Seahawks roster cuts as the 3 p.m. league deadline has passed for the team to cut down to 53 players.
However, the team did release a statement by head coach Pete Carroll on offensive line coach Alex Gibbs’ abrupt retirement.
“We wish Alex the best in his retirement. We’re grateful for the time we had with him and we’re all better for it.”
Eric, there has to be more to this than personnel disagreements, right? Fatigue is fine, but are there any more serious health issues you’ve heard about? (If not specific necessarily…)

Apparently the ‘Hawks are withholding their cuts until league approval from the league on the Andrews deal.

Must be waiting for Vince.

i just saw on facebook that they let rankin go

Apparently Babs and JJ made it. Jamar Adams, Ruvell Martin, Louis Rankin, JP Losman, Brandon Jones, Hagler all cut.

I am just a little worried about our QB’s staying healthy. If we are going to be in chaos since they will not be real continuity, I am sure we will see many missed assignments. OUCH

Brian McIntyre’s site has all the cuts!

For at least the past *decade*, the Seahawks have never announced the final roster until hours after the deadline. I don’t know why this is so. Other teams do a better job satisfying their fans’ hunger for information.

Drafting Okung ( thank heavens) showed to all PC wasn’t 100% behind Gibbs’ ZBS . I am sure some of the requests went ignored and going after Andrews was the last straw that pushed the old mans “eruption”. Plus, the lack of results in the running game….
It is entertaining to see Carrolls lack of testicular fortitude in his decision to keep Hass instead of boldly going with “his” boy Charlie W.
Personally, I wouldn’t lose Housh just to please Hass who won’t be here next year anyway ( if he doesn’t get tossed as well before the end of this season).
It looks to me that we had replaced Mora “The Moron”
with another moron.
It is all the fault of Tod Leiweke . I hope he gets punished for all he’s done to us ( the team, the fans ETC) by having his “thingy” dry up and fall of!

Surprised hagler was cut… He looked very solid..

I’m, uh, not sure whether you’re just saying things for effect, but Gibbs was over the moon about Okung when they drafted him. I don’t remember the exact quotes, but he was sold on Okung over Williams, as I recall, and couldn’t stop raving about Okung.
So it’s not at all that Pete took him against Gibbs’ wishes…
…revisionist history, people wanting to see the glass as half-full…

I bet his retirement was expected. PC probably had to really work hard to pursuade him to just coach through TC/ preseason.

I just tried to see if I could name all the new faces to this year’s team, but didn’t quite get there…about 8 short. And S. Andrews is on or off? I don’t know ‘officially’ yet nor am I well versed in than those who have been released.
For fun however, I thought I’d rank them. Try doing the same.
Tell me if you wouldn’t rather be rooting for THESE guys than the bottom 24* of any of the Hawks previous 53 man roster in recent years?
OK, and obviously, time will tell.
Nonetheless, that list that includes:
this year’s draftees (Okung, the 3 T’s…Thomas, Tate, Thurmond…Wilson, Chancellor, McCoy, Davis…1-2-3-4-5-6-7…yeah, doubt the front office still? Ignorance is bliss. For me personally, it was hand’s down the best draft I’ve ever witnessed for my hometown guys.
former #1 picks (M. Williams, K. Balmer)…impact guys (L. Washington, K. Vickerson and again M. Williams who oh by the way didn’t cost us any draft picks to all you boo-hooers)…solid vets (C. Baker, Q. Gather, B. Hamilton, C. Pitts)…plus some young-ins or unknowns (K. Ellison, T. Polumbus, R. Lewis, K. Cox, M. McCoy)…
and of course, the protégé (C. Whitehurst)…
