If you haven’t gotten FOA 2010, it’s well worth it. It’s really the only football-related printed item I purchase. Since I found out about it, I’ve bought their book now 3 straight years. Even without all the stats-related content (if that doesn’t interest some of you), the write-ups on each team are the best out there and there are interesting player-projections, too. No, I don’t work for them. Just a happy fan of their work. :)

Alot of what was written I agree with, especially the last years coaches, talent pool, and team record. If we get to 7 wins this year I will be happy. I see the hawks being 1 or 2 years away beofre contending even though Carroll & schneider say we are not rebuilding ( which is what they need to say)

Especially in light of the fact that almost all of them are 100% bought in to the premature anointing of SF as NFC West champs already.

On an only marginally related note, Mike Silver was on local radio here today and he is predicting the whole “Favre hates Childress” thing is going to result in a spectacular meltdown with the Vikes’ season this year. I’ll raise a glass to that :) !

Kam Chancellor is a prototype Cover-3 strong safety. I have not seen a lot of cover-3 in practice, but I still think its coming. What I will be looking for in the game tomorrow is the single deep safety I saw them practicing on Monday. They were practicing it at three quarter speed to make sure they had the assignments correct. Coach Carroll actually came over and was talking to Earl one-on-one to make sure he understood his responsibilities in the scheme.

One thing I would take issue with is his belief Seattle will run a lot of Tampa2 . While it seems pretty clear from Carroll’s track record and even last weeks game they’ll run 2 and 3 deep at times, I don’t see Curry playing the zone between the numbers and hash. When he was at Sam, he was on the line every time. And as he said, Hawthorne is a question in coverage at this point, so I’d expect to see limited traditional Tampa 2 coverages.

Farrar doesn’t seem to believe CW is the future here, if you read between the lines. In any case, thanks E. Really good.
