Here’s a few links to start your morning.

My story today focuses on the surprising progress of rookie cornerback Walter Thurmond, who looks like he could help Seattle this season.

I also joined KJR’s Ian Furness to talk about the major storylines taking place at training camp in this audio link.

Furness talks to cornerback Josh Wilson about competing for the starting job at corner and the return of a healthy Marcus Trufant in this audio link.

Furness talks to running back Justin Forsett in this audio link.

John Boyle of the Everett Herald writes about the friendly competition at cornerback between Josh Wilson and Kelly Jennings.

Jim Moore and Paul Silvi of ESPN 710 Seattle talk to Matt Hasselbeck, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and John Carlson after practice on Tuesday, which can be found here.

Gregg Bell of the Associated Press profiles Seahawks linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr.

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that former Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Quinn Pitcock is working out for Seattle today.

Sports Illustrated runs an excerpt of Tim Layden’s new book, Blood, Sweat and Chalk; the Ultimate Football Playbook. The chapter details the evolution of Buddy Ryan’s 4-6 defense.

The Buffalo Bills will reportedly grant defensive end Aaron Schobel his wish and release him. New England and Houston are reportedly interested, but Seattle’s issues at defensive end perhaps the Seahawks throw their hat in the ring.

  1. What?! You guys are talking about players other than Brett Favre? shame on you. ;-)

Aaron Shobel leaving Buffalo is really interesting. If PC could convince him to come to Seattle, I think he’s a guy who could fill a role currently vacant – backup to Aaron Curry. If Curry goes down injured this year, I don’t think we have another player who can stuff the run on the strong side plus pass rush like Curry can. Shobel is that type of player. Unfortunately, Buffalo fans are saying that Shobel is leaving Buff because he wants to play in Texas. Not likely he’d want to be up here in Seattle.

  2. I’m not an expert when it come to evaluating talent on the field ,but the seahawks seem to have a pleterer of guys that will fill that spot admirably schobel will be better served in texas.

  3. Dukeshire says:

I agree and especially now that Heygood is back I don’t see Seattle having any interest.
