The Seattle Seahawks announced this afternoon that they have claimed receiver Kole Heckendorf off waivers from the Detroit Lions.
Seahawks general manager John Schneider has a history with Heckendorf, as the North Dakota State product originally signed with the Green Bay Packers in 2009 but was cut after training camp. Heckendorf then spent the rest of the 2009 season on Detroit’s practice squad.
At 6-foot-2, 191 pounds, Heckendorf is another big target for Seattle.
Seattle made room for Heckendorf by releasing receiver Chris Duvalt.
Check out the video below for highlights from Heckendorf’s pro day last year.
You think coach Gus will be pulling for this kid? North Dakota St grad and former coach himself…
He’s a little info on him. Lists his 40 as 4.49. After watching that video I never would have imagined anything that low, he has such a long stride. Anyway…

I couldn’t help but notice how explosive he was out of his breaks and how quick, wonderlic of 14.
Impressive score considering they only give 10pts for spelling ones name correctly. Not sure I could spell Coal Heickendork.
Welcome to the Seahawks!
Eric, got any good stories? Once worked for a guy who tried out with the Raiders of old. Said the hazing was constant, pants on the ground sorta thing. Why is it I never hear of any good torturing coming outa camp?

I read the old Ken Stabler book about some of their wild training camps and things like that. Those Raider stories are crazy. People laugh at them today, but if anyone tried some of that stuff now, they would be crucified for it in the court of public opinion.

You are 100% right. That’s a great book, by the way. The stuff they did to Madden during raining camp was pretty damn funny. But the partying after curfew, the womanizing, the pills… they were simply colorful. By the way, for anyone who hasn’t “Snake”, I recommend it.

Thinking of the next draft, Robert Quinn or Marvin Austin would go a long way. Those 2 are fun to watch.

This guys brother played starting TE for the Redskins winning a SB in ’86 vs Broncos. Had it not been for the horrific Raider treatment it was explained to me that he was the better athlete of the two. He certainly had a bigger build.

It could be the indoors thing throwing it off but that pro day workout doesn’t seem to impressive. Not that it matters, because he won’t make the team or the practice squad

I’m wondering if we’re not going to have an amazing special teams unit this year.
We’ve been picking up a lot of able, quick bodies, that most likely won’t be starting on O or D.

They released Chris Duvalt, but didn’t they just sign him to a 3 year contract last week? Why sign him to a longer contract just to release him so quickly…?
× Flag comment
Too slow! By the time he gets into his stance to run his first play the offense will have already rattled off 3 plays! Maybe that’s just a pro day, 40 thing?

The team probably tries to sign any player who has no guaranteed money to a long contract. The longer the better, at least for the organization. It is minimum money anyway and there is no guarantee, so no loss to the team if they kick the guy out after 3 weeks (like Duvalt). But if the kid turns out to be good, the team has got him locked in for peanuts for 3 years.

Semms like PC is angling to be th SD of the NFC. “ok Charlie. heres the plan, I dont want you to throw the ball to them. just throw it 3 feet over thier head.”
Snake was an awesome book. loved the part were he drove 1500 miles or something on one of those temporary spare tires so as not to be late to camp.

Hasselbeck to Heckendorf!
Has a nice ring to it?

Sounds like two citys on the Autobahn. “We drank Spaten all the way from Hasselbeck to Heckendorf.”

There’s got to be a David Hasselhoff joke in here somewhere.

Here are the links for that. Mighty slim pickings for depth, but it’s something.

… and in Jim “not bitter” Mora news…

Mora just seems to sound like a bitter baby more and more. He didn’t even open his mouth this time, but he still found a way to look like a jerk. With each stupid thing he’s done/said, it further justifies his firing.

Jim ” not bitter” Mora. Getting sorta not cool by now. 8 million reasons to say and do nothing for 2 years (correct me if I’m wrong, but was guesstimating at 4 mill per), he’s going to hang himself for any future jobs. Mariucci and Billick will be hired before him!!
