The Seattle Seahawks announced some moves today, releasing cornerback DeAngelo Willingham and punter Tom Malone. The Seahawks also agreed to terms with long snapper Matt Overton and safety Quinton Teal.

Teal is entering his fourth season in the league. He played his first three years with Carolina, starting four games for the Panthers in three seasons. Teal was a restricted free agent for Carolina but not offered a contract with the team.

Teal also participated in Seattle’s pre-draft camp as a tryout player, but was not extended an offer at that time. He adds depth to a safety group that includes Jordan Babineaux, Jamar Adams and rookies Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor.

  1. Not that this has anything to do with the topic… but I just made plans to come out to Seattle for the home opener vs. the 49ers to usher in the Mr. Happy era of Seahawks Football!!! I’m up for meeting somewhere before the game for some serious tailgating if anyone is interested!!!

Check out Matt Overton – super long-snapper extraordinaire…

Ooh Yah You Betcha, Bobby! We’ll go oot and aboot and live it up, ya know!

Just giving you a hard time because I picture you with a thick Minnesota accent. I can’t give you too much grief though because whenever I head back to North Dakota in the summer I come back with an accent myself (and a sunburn and a few walleye)..

Congrats, should be a great time to be out here!

  4. The only other home game I’ve been to was the Cowboy 13-10 game in ’05. Loved it. I thought that game was the turning point in that season! I hope to bring the same “luck.” Nothing would be more exciting than taking down the supposed divison champ 49ers in week 1 of the new season. Well, maybe winning the Super Bowl, but you know what I mean. Looking forward to it! (I’m going to stick around and catch a Mariners game on that Mondaynight too.)

  5. I did season tickets the 1st year they were in husky stadium. Didn’t go to the last 4 games due to the weather & lack of shelter over our seats. Between that, the price increases & the decision to not put a roof on the stadium (a decision I still consider idiotic) I now enjoy the Hawks exclusively on television.

Osi Umenyiora and Deuce Lutui will become FAs soon. Any chance PC is waiting for them?

  7. Dukeshire says:

I haven’t seen that video in a while. Still incredible to me.

Bobby – We’re going to have a hoot!

  8. sl2 – Osi has a relatively cheap contract. I could possibly see it if he were making a lot of money. Have you seen a site where he’ll be released?

Duke – Yes. It’s gonna be fun! The first game in the Mr. Happy era! Playing the supposed favorites to win the divison in 2010! The ‘9ers are in for a rude awakening.

Last time a Seattle team dropped a Willingham they improved by 5 games. So now we’re looking at 10-6!

  10. That’s funny…and especially for a zombie :-) lol

Huh???? 70% (actually, I think it’s 72.4%) of the seats are covered! The roofs cover nearly the entire 3rd and 2nd levels and half of the 1st level minus the End Zones.

WAY BETTER atmosphere than Husky Stadium, and I’m a UW grad. Qwest was actually built on a smaller-than-allowed lot and was given an exemption by the NFL. So, the seating is much more vertical from the field rather than sweeping, making the fans “on top” of the field.

Anyway, you should see at least one game there.

BobbyK – you picked the right game to attend. Hands down, the best game of last year – in terms of crowd excitement/volume – was the opener against the Rams. Felt like a playoff game. Too bad the highlight of the season came in the first game!

    GRADE: 52

Teal is a third-year backup who mainly contributes on special teams. He has good height but lacks bulk and strength defending the run. He has above-average straight-line speed but lacks top burst and range in coverage. He is slightly stiff through the hips and will lose some separation as receivers run out of breaks. He flashes the ability to read the QB quickly and get a good jump on the ball in the air but needs to stay disciplined in coverage. His route reactions can be overly aggressive at times and he will lose leverage on receivers when attempting to make plays on the ball. He is an adequate tackler but not an overly physical player in run support. He’ll have some trouble breaking down quickly to make plays in space.

Lol, I just started reading that paragraph and was thinking of Teel. I got confused fast, and realized my error. Funny what happens at midnight when you should actually be asleep.

BK , the giants took JPP to replace Osi; b/c everyone knows he wanted to leave. He still does per NBC Sports late last nite or Roto(?)
Actually, my question was more towards the letting Lutui go by AZ since he played for PC in college . Is it possible Deuce could play in ZBS?
