First reported by KIRO-TV news, I confirmed with the Issaquah Police department that Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
According to the report, the Issaquah Police Department was called to Hill’s home on Saturday at 11:55 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic dispute.
When police arrived, Hill’s girlfriend had marks and injuries indicating an assault. She said Hill caused the injuries, according to police at the scene.
Hill was arrested and booked into the Issaquah City Jail for fourth-degree assault and domestic violence.
This is Hill’s second brush with the law in a little over a year. Two weeks ago Hill pleaded guilty to marijuana possession and received 12 months probation n Douglas County Superior Court in suburban Georgia, stemming from a Jan. 24, 2009 incident that occurred early Saturday morning where police found the Seahawks linebacker passed out behind the wheel at a major intersection in suburban Atlanta. Officers found less than one ounce of marijuana in Hill’s vehicle.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is expected to address the media on Tuesday, the first day of the team’s voluntary, veteran minicamp.
So I guess we can assume Hill has played his last game for the Seahawks.

So does Hawthorne play in his spot now? I feel as if he could play outside backer. Who knows? Hawthorne could be better than Hill in that position so it could be a blessing in disguise.

What a pathetic sob…how sad.

How about this stat for Hill: 5 of his 14.5 career sacks have been against the Rams.

idiot. – kiss a trade goodbye…..how much of that TR deal is guarenteed once we turf him?

Are you kidding?!?! Congratulations David Hawthorne, you are now Seattle’s starting WLB. Although, considering the players they are bringing in with criminal histories and players (Marshall) they are purported to have interest in, this may not scare the ‘Hawks at all. What an asshole.

Now it’s 15.5 sacks including his girlfriend. What a moron!

Does Hill have a brother named Ben, maybe we could trade him to the Steelers, so their QB will have someone who relates. I was always a big suppoerter of Hill, said he needs a second chance with the dope thing in GA. Well he had it now as far as I’m concerned he can snivle somewhere else!!! I hope the league and the Hawks send this fool packin.

Let’s not cast judgment until we get the details. If the hoe was smoking all his weed then maybe she had it coming..
Kidding..

vichawkfan – As I understand it, the only guaranteed money are the first 2 seasons oy the contract which comes to $10.5 mil. But not included in that is a $2 mil roster bonus for this season. Maybe Eric can confirm this.

snydro81 – When my girlfriend heard about the Warren Sapp arrest the night before the Super Bowl for (allegedly) smacking his woman around, she asked, “was she not listening to him?” Lol. And before anyone gets on me, I know it’s a serious thing, but it still made me laugh.

An uncapped year is a perfect time to get rid of the trash. Take the hit now and send him packing.

tell me snydro hasn’t changed his login…what a douche, not because he changed his login, hes simply a douche.
that said, c’mon you guys…at least he seams willing to hit someone this year, HIYOOOOO! Last year he was counting his cash and standing around confused as to what to do. We need PC to talk to him like “the Fonz” talked to “Happy Gilmore” telling him to channel his rage against the enemy…
LOL

Dudes,
If I need a jury, please do not report.
1) The guy is not guilty until proven.
ex. I have a very close friend who is in the midst of break up, and the wife decides to get him arrested for abuse. Turns out, he is out of town, and she gets arrested for false reporting.
Not saying that is the case here, but please let the process work.
If Hill is found guilty or admits it, I say deal him – run his butt out of town, until then I will reserve judgement.

Bring on the Heater! Hill will make a decent backup LB.

bird_spit – Of course you’re right, our society is based on that. Unless you happen to find yourself locked up at Gitmo, but that’s another story. What I find disturbing however, even if there is no conviction here, is that he has put himself, yet again, in jeopardy. He is of course innocent in the eyes of the law until otherwise proven, that does not mean he is not guilty of terrible judgment regarding his behavior. This is not good.

Guys,
The team won’t have to cut him OR pay him. He just plead guilty to the possession thing and was put on 12 months probation.
Probation violation is considered much more serious than the original offense. The point being he was given 12 months to ‘keep his nose clean’ and he lasted 2 weeks. The guy is on his way to jail. That will be followed by the minimum of 8 game suspension or, possibly even a year suspension.
Team won’t owe him any money.

chuck_easton – Well, not necessarily. The conditions of the plea deal may or may not stipulate that the original charges be invoked. That is usually the case but not always. Moreover, if a toxicology report comes back clean (and it’s hard to imagine one wasn’t taken), regardless if he is convicted or not, might also gives his lawyers some room. All that said, you are right, he very likely will be heading back to Georgia to answer to the Atlanta magistrate. The best he can hope for here is either 1- the girlfriend refuses to cooperate or otherwise chooses to not press charges 2 – his actions are deemed to have been in self defense. The fact they arrested him prior to any investigation tells me she was visibly bruised. But look no further than Brandon Marshall to see how these things have a way of disappearing.

bird_spit,
He doesn’t have to be guilty of the domestic incident. When you are on probation ANY contact with the law is enough to be considered breaching your probation.
He’ll have to do at least a month in jail for the probation violation.

Was thinking Roethlisberger.

Regardless of conviction, this is not a good start. The team should not be distracted by this. But these things are distracting to Leroy. Bet he wishes he could roll a fat one and kick back.

chuck_easton – “He’ll have to do at least a month in jail for the probation violation.” – You don’t know that. It could be more or no time at all, there are too many variables we are unaware of to know how that will play out just yet.

Duke,
In going back over the actual conditions as reported out of Georgia I think you may be correct.
Hill just has 12 months to complete a drug and alcohol program, 30 hours of community service and then he can petition to have his record expunged.
Looks like there are no provisions of having to serve any jail time for breach.
He may have what was going to be a likely 1 game suspension by the NFL increased to 4 games. Looks like we won’t be seeing him on the filed until week 5 of the season.

Chuck,
Or maybe traded to Cincinnati?

Chuck_Easton-
I don’t know the statutes in the State of Georgia, but I highly doubt Cheech will be violated on a non-similar charge of DV. Unless he pimped slapped the hoe with a 3′ foot bong caked with residue! If he was granted a deferral on the possession charge, then he might get wacked, but I doubt it.
If he pleads to the DV, he might do a day in jail. But what really is gonna suck for cheech is that by law, he will have to undergo a year of DV treament.

Usually if your on probation, it only affects you if you get caught doing something in the same county.

Same county again.

I don’t mean to always correct today, but nearly always a condition of probation is not having contact (an arrest, not a traffic violation or some such) with the authorities during that period of time. County in most cases is irrelevant. If a condition of his current probation in Atlanta is such, the DA there can re-invoke the original charges and a judge revoke the suspended sentence. It all depends on how the DA wrote the plea arrangement. Total guess here, but I can’t imagine they’d jail him down there regardless how things go here. Probably suspend his license or something.

The commish is going to have his a** more then likely. Don’t think the Hawks will trade him, but when he comes back in week 5, Hawthorne may have taken his job. If they draft a LB in the 2nd (doubt it) then he’s a goner.

What’s the big deal? The management and fans are all hot and bothered about trading for a guy who has TWO domestic violence arrests, so the front office can’t be too bothered by this. No one seemed bothered by Marshall’s history.
So, if he’s released, I guess two of our first 3 picks will be defensive end and strongside linebacker?
