The Seattle Seahawks announced the signing of Arizona Cardinals free agent wide receiver Sean Morey to a multi-year deal.

Morey, 34, played a key role on the Cardinals punt and kickoff coverage units, which is an area Seattle could certainly use some help.

Morey earned a 2008 trip to the Pro Bowl as a special teams player, with 22 tackles on special teams that year. He also earned notoriety that season for blocking a punt in overtime against Dallas that led to a game-winning touchdown by linebacker Monty Beisel. Morey was selected a Pro Bowl alternate as a special teams player in 2009.

Originally a seventh-round draft choice by New England in 1999, Morey spent two seasons with the Patriots before signing with Philadelphia. He spent the past three season with the Cardinals.

So we have a gunner now. All we need is a good return man and our special teams should shape up pretty nicely. Now we just have to figure out that whole offense and defense thing.

Awesome!!! Not the signing…but if you watch closely (especially around 1:10) he takes a kick to the baby makers from the punter.

  3. Only problem is he has Concussion problems. Part of the reason the Tards let him go.
Hope he stays healthy and has some highlight hits against them every year

Morey was selected a Pro Bowl alternate ——— That’s kind of an automatic selection these days. Well, except for Seahawks.

  5. Kinda old. I hope he can hold up all year.

I’m a little leery of signing 34 year old players, especially ones with concussion issues, but our Special Teams are a disaster and if this upgrades them, I’m all for it.

  7. Great, now we have a Mare and a Morey…how many more drinking games do we need?

Well, at least Mora’s gone. Drink up fellas!

  8. nighthawk2 says:

Yeah, but think of the confusion that will cause poor Dick Stockton.

  9. Based on the rec’g stats, he’s purely special teams….

  10. Eric-
If Morey’s a gunner, and Obo’s a gunner, does this move mean SEA is trying to free up Obo from STs to play WR, or just to get two gunners on STs?
