According to this report from WIVB-TV in Buffalo, former Seattle Seahawks special teams coach Bruce DeHaven will return to Buffalo as the team’s special teams coach.
DeHaven, who has 23 year of NFL experience as a special teams coach, served in the same capacity for the Bills from 1987 to 1999, but was let go in 2000 after the Bills lost to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC playoffs on the “Music City Miracle.”
Buffalo fans can’t catch a break. He’s no the worst in the business but they let him go previously for a reason. You want to about re-building a franchise over from the ground up, Buffalo needs it.

*not*, to *talk* about… Where is that damn edit button?

I still think the Hawks letting him go was a mistake.

I doubt he was let go from Seattle for any reason except Pete Carroll wants “his” own guy here.
Buffalo had some of the best special teams for years when DeHaven coached them. Four super bowls, and teams were a big part of their formula for success. I think the music city thing was just a fluke. Buffalo remembers DeHaven as a great coach.
(remember Leotic McKelvin running the ball out of the end zone on opening day and fumbling the ball away to the Patriots?) They had the Pats beat until that boneheaded play. Buffalo needs a new teams coach.

I was surprised our special teams were so bad when he was here, with the reputation he had coming in. Perhaps he was overrated, I don’t think that it was solely bad personnel playing on special teams that was the reason for our poor performance. Mike DeBord, the Hawks former TE coach, was hired by the Bears for the same position.
