How about someone new like Panthers D-line coach Brian Baker or Vikings D-line coach Karl Dunbar; or maybe Mike Murphy, the Colts LB coach for 12 years. Murphy as LB here from 95-97 under Erickson.

Does the Rooney Rule apply to coordinator positions? I didn't think it did. Anyways, if Pistol Pete's going to be calling the plays on defense (which I think I remember hearing), I'm not as concerned about who our DC will be.

Although, this was the same attitude I had last year, yet a lot of the blame seemed to be put on Bradley's schemes and such. So maybe the DC position is actually more important than I thought...

Here's a post over at Hawksnest that suggests that our pass rush may not be quite as bad, as we think. Curry and Tapp among the league leaders? At what, missing tackles? Think again!

By the looks at the apathy about this news, sounds like Gray must been a Rooney Roo. I really hope we nail down the DC position....no doubt, Carroll, since he's a defensive gury will get this one right.

On a slow news day, here's a quote from the gangsta himself, Lendale White on Carroll taking the Seahawks job:

"On Carroll leaving USC to coach the Seahawks: “As a Trojan you wish Pete could be your coach for years and years kind of like Bobby Bowden at Florida State, but you knew he’d probably leave at some point and give the NFL another shot. He is a competitor. People say Pete is a players’ coach and it can’t be that way in the NFL. But Jeff (Fisher) and Pete are similar in making practices fun and doing different things and changing things around. But he makes great decisions and he knows how to win football games, that’s the most important thing. And he has shown he can win period and I think guys will buy in. He has a way with words and has a great charisma to make guys follow. I’m happy for Pete and I’m happy about Lane and all the USC coaches coming back to replace him.’’
