Holmgrens first stint as GM was not a very good one, but he understood the situation and relinquished his role. You can't argue with his ability to lead, and we need someone that can bring an identity to this team. I don't think Ruskell has done a bad job, but we need to create that identity, and that has been lost since Holmy left and Ruskell has been GM. See Parcells in Miami.

Chuck... I feel the same way you do about the GM position... Someone else mentioned about the Holmy scenario, wherein he might be a different GM if he wasn't also coaching.... I feel that is pretty valid... and Holmgren is a class guy.... Regardless of who's out there though as GM, they will address the Off Line situation... LOL!!! Probably a 'fine print' item in their contract for the sake of fan support at the entry gate!
Flywht... You put into words the feelings I have about Mora... "I" don't want to HEAR him anymore... really... I heard a number of Gruden game summaries and I love to listen to him... He calls a spade a spade... No flowers and soft music! I like factual people... As far as the 'kicker callout' incident, I looked at that as a blame... guessing Mora lost a LOT of TEAM respect on that display.... He may never get that respect back... That may be a key to where we are today....

While I have no 'love' of Ruskell I also don't hate him.

He's likely going to be re-signed (just my hunch) and people on here are going to be throwing themselves of the nearest bridge or high building.

Now on the other hand if he is let go I'll just say 'OK, let's see what the next guy can do..."

I still stand by my position that even if Ruskell is let go Holmgren may not necessarily be the best fit. He was TERRIBLE in his last stint as GM here. He was the best HC Seattle has ever had, but the last few years my now 12 year old son could predict the next offensive play even before the team broke the huddle.

There is way too much Ruskell hatred and entirely too much Holmgren devotion in Seattle fans.

My girlfriend and her entire family are big Stealers fans. I came home the other night and she had her terrible towels cleaned and fluffed and ready for action...so imagine my pain! Though, I told her, if she pulls those out when they play the hawks and I'm going to wipe my a*) with them.

Jesus Christ.... There's a lot of Steelers haters out here. Why the hatred for the Steelers.. They did nothing wrong. If you can remember far enough back it was the referees. To me, seeing the Steelers win (or lose) is the same as any other team out there who win's or loses! Then again, maybe Im out there alone with that thought...

Anyway, I think Paul Allen will give Ruskell another year or two, along with Mora. You should be able to get more than just 1 season to prove yourself as a head coach (especially during a rebuilding period)! I know he was head coach for Atlanta and what not, but this is a new area, new team, and we shouldn't kick Mora to the curb just because of a 3-5 start.... Hell... It could be worse....

Stevos- your crazy if you think ruskell has done a good job- just look at the defensive he has put together. The safety play is shaky, the corners are too small, all the money is tied up in the LB position, DL is aging (kerney & Redding) and jackson and tapp are not good enough players to be consistent. Ruskell has had 5 years to give us a a top 10 defense and we are not!!! If it wasn't for the those 2 blowout winsthis season are defesne ranking would be horrible. I don't have enough faith in ruskell to rebuild our Oline and get us a RB and a QB for the future. Do u seahawk fans? Just look at the defense he has put together. The defense was suppose to define this team and its not up to snuff. I watched the lions teams move up and down the field on our defesne last week and we got lucky that a rookie QB kept throwing us the ball (5 picks) Just wait till next week when Warner throws 5 TD passes against us. I just sayin

IBGoofy - Thank you for that. Mora can climb a mountain, but he is not an NFL coach. We need a high-profile coach here again. Football is a hard-nosed game, we need a hard-nosed coach. How often did we see Holmgren light up a player on the sideline for not doing his job. Don't see that with Mora, do ya? We need that back, badly....

Whew!!! Lots of great debate over our GM spot...!!! Be it TR, Holmy or someone else, next year, that person will have no choice but to address the offensive line needs... most probably in overkill.... For me, I still continue to feel we have significant talent on the field, but how that talent is being used is a failure... Argue all we want about the GM spot, the coach and staff needs to step up and do their job. I don't believe that's happening... A change needs to happen on that sideline....
