Greetings from a gray and rainy VMAC …. kind of abbreviated links because I got to get to practice.
Let’s get to it.
Here’s my story on Marcus Trufant returning to practice.
AUDIO: Hawks legend Steve Largent was on with Mitch in the Morning on KJR and had some strong opinions. Nate Burleson and Deion Branch were on with Softy Mahler yesterday. Nate had some interesting comments about the fans staying with the team.
A sad story I should have posted yesterday, but forgot to. But anyway former Seahawks safety Terreal Bierra was charged with murder in New Orleans.
Arizona Cardinals
Kent Somers writes about Larry Fitzgerald‘s touchdown pass and the play that was called to get it. The Cardinals want Beanie Wells to slow down in his approach to the game to stop some of his fumbling issues. Columnist Dan Bickley has this column about Neil Rackers not being your average kicker.
St. Louis Rams
Here’s the story about the trade of Wil Witherspoon for WR Brandon Gibson and a draft pick. Columnist Jeff Gordon said the trade was necessary for the team’s makeover. Columnist Bryan Burwell also checks in with his thoughts.
San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco Chronicle columnist Ray Ratto gives his usual interesting take on Michael Crabtree starting this weekend. Columnist Scott Ostler writes about concussions and brain damage and the retirement of linebacker Jeff Ulbrich. Monte Poole of the BNG writes about Nate Clements.
Great to hear Largent but man, Mitch is so painful to listen to.

Ryan – how does McIntosh look? Is he running with the first unit?

I’m with ya, Duke…the dude belongs in political talk radio, where the deal is to inflame and outrage…not sports radio, where we’re after entertainment and information…

Kind of puts the huge talent difference between the O line and D line in perspective. Seattle tries to sneak the # 10 D lineman (Bennett) onto the practice squad and he gets taken by a team clear across the states in Florida.
Seattle waives the guy they just started at LT and not a nibble.

I have no doubts that trufant can come in and make an immediate impact. He did the same straight out of college during his rookie year. Grossly underrated, I think the addition of trufant is 10 times more impactful than Hill (not to short change hill, glad to have you back)

Dukeshire: “Great to hear Largent but man, Mitch is so painful to listen to. ”
Really? Is he one of those sports commentators that drives everybody in Seattle nuts? I haven’t listened to him enough to notice.
I was a Mariners fan back in the Pat Gillick / Lou Pinella days. On days when they weren’t on the tube I used to listen to them on internet radio feeds. I don’t remember the names of the announcers but, let me tell you, those guys drove me insane. Worse play by play crew I ever heard in my life. I got into the habit of picking up the opposing team’s feed instead if one was available. Better to listen to announcers who know nothing about your favorite team than to go through that. I reckon, if this Mitch fellow is as bad as you say, it would still take a whole lot of listening to measure up to that nightmare.
I loved the interview. Good comedy to start, a great tearing apart of that idiot Dan Snyder to finish. Poor Jim. I though Shanahan and Schottenheimer were shafted but he’s just been cornered, beheaded and plucked. He should just chalk the whole experience up to temporary insanity and quit. Leave those guys wallowing in their own muck. Somebody somewhere with more sense would hire him as a coordinator.

Great pickup of Puyallup/WSU product Brandon Gibson by STL.
It’s gonna be tough to see him playing against us in the division, but I’m happy that he’ll get some real playing time now than he did in Philly.

SOrry Duke & Night…I could not agree less. Mitch is the best interviewer in the the seattle market. He always asks the tough questions, but never in an in your face way. He is the only one I will listen to on KJR anymore. GasMan blew the saftey zone rule by continually bringin his liberal politics to his show and his interviews are so suck-uppy I can’t stand it.
Having said that. I have a soft spot for JZ and hope he lands on his feet after this. Snyder is a complete idiot.

What about bringing Holmgren back to be the President of Football Operations here, let TR remain GM, Holmgren’s also HC, bring back Zorn to be OC, Mora DC, Bradley finds a high spot under Mora somewhere. Get the best DB & LB coaches for a T2 defense. Holmgren chooses the 1st round pick for the offense and the 6th round pick, and has a budget for offensive FAs. TR picks the rest for the defense. Mora does what he has to to get his defensive team to be able to stop each offensive team he’s gonna face each season. Holmgren does what he has to to best each and every defense his offense is gonna face each season. Or swap Mora for Sarc.
