I moved Seattle up to 20th overall this week after a decisive win over Jacksonville. Seattle’s opponent, Arizona, is ranked 18th overall in this week’s rankings.

And it looks like others agree. ESPN ranks Seattle 20th overall. Pete Prisco of CBS Sports puts the Seahawks at 20th overall.

Don Banks of Sports Illustrated ranks Seattle 20th overall. And Clifton Brown of the Sporting News puts Seattle at 20th overall.

1. N.Y. Giants (1): Eli Manning returns to the Big Easy for the first time in his pro career, as Giants face first test of the season.

2. Minnesota (2): The Vikings take on the Ravens in another must-see game this week.

3. Indianapolis (3): The Colts head into the bye week undefeated with a chance to get healthy — not a good sign for St. Louis, who Indy hosts Oct. 25.

4. New Orleans (4): Saints should be tested by stout Giants defense, only giving up 14.2 points a contest.

5. Denver (6): Broncos at 5-0 a legit playoff team? Housh believes, so we do too.

6. Philadelphia (8): Flying under the radar at 3-1 and get another break in the schedule facing Oakland on the road.

7. Atlanta (9): Not reliant on just RB Michael Turner to move the ball, with QB Matt Ryan showing he could sling it around against 49ers.

8. Cincinnati (11): If not for Brandon Stokley’s heroics in a last-second loss against Denver in the season opener, Bengals would be undefeated.

9. Chicago (13): Bears travel to Atlanta after the bye week in another good matchup this week.

10. Pittsburgh (14): S Troy Polamalu’s return should help bring back swagger to defense.

11. New England (5): The student in McDaniels got the best of mentor Belichick last week in Denver.

12. Baltimore: (7): Defense not as dominant since Rex Ryan took his risky play calling to Jets.

13. N.Y. Jets (10): Dolphins’ Wildcat offense gives Jets’ D some humble pie.

14. San Francisco (12): Niners need to find some explosive plays on offense. QB Alex Smith might be the answer.

15. Green Bay (15): Similar to Seattle, the Packrs have issues protecting Aaron Rogers because of injuries along the offensive line.

16. San Diego (16): Chargers coming off bye week and need to get this one at home against AFC West rival Broncos.

17. Dallas (17): WR Miles Austin’s big plays helped the Cowboys go into the bye week feeling good.

18. Arizona (18): Cardinals looking to get a leg up in the NFC West with win at Qwest Field.

19. Miami (19): Dolphins ability to execute Wildcat offense continues to prove doubters wrong.

20. Seattle (23): Seahawks need a win over Cardinals for playoffs hopes to remain a reality.

21. Houston (21):
Need Steve Slaton and running game to kick in with already potent passing offense led by Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson.

22. Jacksonville (20): Jags get perfect, soothing balm after getting blitzed by Seattle with St. Louis coming to town this week.

23. Carolina (25): Panthers earned first win of the season against Washington, but still can’t score, averaging 14.2 points a game.

24. Buffalo (24): The countdown to T.O. blowing up is nearing zero.

25. Washington (26):
It appears only a matter of time now before Zorn is gone.

26. Tennessee (26): Losing streak likely will continue at New England.

27. Detroit (28): QB Matt Stafford and WR Calvin Johnson could be out this week against Green Bay.

28. Cleveland (32): It wasn’t pretty, but Browns got first win last week at Buffalo.

29. Oakland (27): Time for QB JaMarcus Russell to hold the clipboard for awhile.

30. Tampa Bay (29): Head coach Raheem Morris looks a bit overwhelmed in his new role.

31. Kansas City (30): The Chiefs will take a moral victory in Kansas City’s overtime loss to Dallas.

32. St. Louis (31): Steven Jackson fourth in the league in rushing with 451 yards, but no touchdowns.

  1. Agreed. Before I ever opened the link, I also put Seattle as No. 20.

BTW, can you talk to the webmaster and look into the possibility of doing some sort of runaround so the copy doesn’t bleed into the ads?

  2. princeaden says:

Alittle away fron the subject, but is anyone watching the Cal/UCLA game? That young fella on Cal named Best is quite a playmaker. He would look EXCELLENT in lime green.

  3. Speaking of college players I am interested in the following:

If we could take anyone one of the following players who who you take and why

    At RB

    J Best – Cal
    CJ Spiller – Clemson
    other —

    At QB
    J Locker – UW
    C McCoy – TEX
    T Tebow – FLorida
    S Bradford – OK
    Clauson – ND
    other – - -

I know these aren’t necesarily what we need and it does not take into consideration draft position or need – I am just curious who people like right now.

    Thanks!

  4. GO HAWK’S!

  5. BobbyAyala says:

I gotta go with Indy in that top spot, the Giants haven’t been tested, and Minny is an injury away.

  6. BobbyAyala says:

Did y’all watch Best against real defenses? UCLA is like playing against a greasy napkin.

The kid I like is Golden Tate. Now that’s a baller.

  7. So one vote for Golden Tate – I am becoming a Spiller fan. Consistant numbers in the SEC and the first ever back to have 6000 all purpose yrds in the SEC – that says something

and as much as I don’t like ND – I kinda like Clausen I think he might fit here, I do like the way Locker and Tebow play but can they make the transition to the pro game?

  8. Sorry meant ACC – watching Flordia play – talking Clemson – it’s best if I don’t try and do 2 things at once!!!

  9. BobbyAyala says:

Yeah, it’s hard to tell whether or not Tebow will fit in the NFL, obviously, Alex Smith was a bust.

The thing you like about Locker is, if he stays one more season, that’s another year of grooming in a Pro Style offense under a coach that produces NFL talent (though Lienart is looking more and more a bust).

I like Clausen’s fire, he seems to be a good leader, though we haven’t had a good history with drafting ND QB’s.

  10. princeaden says:

I am kind of a hometown guy. But, if it were up to me, and it was decided it was a QB we are picking, I would have to go with Locker. He looks like a right handed Steve Young in the making to me. Especially since Jake hasn’t had very good QB/Passing training until this year. Another year under Sark, his decision making and passing will continue to improve and I see him as THE premier QB in the country.

  11. BobbyAyala says:

I just hope the hype machine doesn’t scoop him up too early. Chris Mortensen is already projecting him as the No. 1 QB in next year’s draft.

Could you imagine Locker in St. Louis? A hideous thought. I just threw up a little in my mouth.

  12. princeaden says:

Just b/c St Louis will have the 1st pick doesn’t mean they will choose a QB. But, I agree. Locker being a Ram is a sickening thought.

  13. BobbyAyala says:

Well, I’m assuming, since they are currently led by Kyle Boller, that team needs a QB in the worst way.

  14. princeaden says:

    10-4…Over.

  15. Whenever you are terrible, it’s a great idea to get a franchise QB. Even though the Rams suck, they still have a LT of the future in Smith (who isn’t good yet, but should be okay as he develops… I don’t see Pro Bowls in his future though) a good C and a decent RG that they spent a lot of money on in FA two years ago. Still, besides Steven Jackson, the rest of that team is crap. It’s gonna be awhile before they can right that ship. I don’t know why Spags took that job when it seemed he had been a man in demand. I would have at least wanted to go to a bad team with at least a little bit of talent.

  16. Okay, since we’re 1-0 when I do this… I’m going to keep doing it until we lose…

  17. ‘Twas the season of injury, and blaming the kicker.
With each hurting ‘Hawk, I became a little bit sicker.

For it didn’t seem fair, “Why does this always happen to us?”
But we’re about to win a pair, and here comes the play-off fuss.

Our leader is back, and he has weapons to throw to,
I just hope there’s no bad sack, or the season could be through.

But our offense if fine, even if our running backs aren’t all that good,
Same with the offensive line, but the others will dominate, as they should.

TJ is a man among boys, and Nate is coming into his own,
JC is a third of Matt’s toys, and here’s another TD pass on Arizona “coverage” that was blown.

As we begin to pull away, after scoring point thirty-one,
The Cards will realize on this day, that their day is done.

Warner might get his yards, and Fitzgerald won’t get shut down,
But winning isn’t in their cards, and they will be glad to get out of town.

Into the bye, and time to get the injured back for Big-D,
Don’t ask why, just “Let it Be.”

  18. I was going to post something, but I don’t want to be the one to follow the weekly poem.

  19. BobbyAyala says:

Well done, Mr. K. Well done.

Here’s to Curry giving a Leinart a chance at redemption.

And here’s to Leinart subsequently being introduced to Mebane Bernard/Smith style.

    The season starts tomorrow.

    Go Hawks.

  20. I’ll stop once we lose. But I have to keep riding it while we have the momentum.

  21. Did Matt Hasselbeck delete his Twitter account? I wanted to check if the retro jersey rumors were true.

  22. Dukeshire says:

    No, he still has it.

  23. NFL Network reported that a handful of teams have contacted the Browns about Josh Cribbs. The Browns are in the mode of trading anything of value to anyone who will give them a future pick or two.

I wonder if we’re one of the teams with interest? The reason I think we could be is because he’s a great returner. A Pro Bowl talent. A guy like we don’t have with respect to his skill set. Wilson is a good KO returner, and Burleson a good punt returner but it’s a bit dangerous to have our starters back there (at least that’s what some say). The other reason is that Ruskell might not be around to use any picks if we don’t win this year so he may be more willing to deal a pick or two. Sucks that we’re already without a 3rd rounder though. Just a thought. I have no knowledge of his character though. Anyone?

  24. twocolorcrayon says:

Tomorrow’s game is the first game this season I’m going to. I’m so freaking excited. I’ll be screamin’ ’til my lungs bleed. BobbyK, another work of genius. I just wonder who has to be the blood sacrifice this time?

  25. RichmondHawk says:

Seattle’s D is tied for 5th in least points allowed per game with a lot of young players with huge upside. While the offense is ranked 12th. If they keep doing what they been doing for the 1st 30% of the year, the last thing you want to see is Ruskell leaving this team.

  26. BobbyAyala says:

For what it’s worth, I have a friend who is a friend of a friend of Cribbs, and he gushes.

    For what it’s worth….

  27. BobbyAyala says:

Branch and Burleson spoke on the retro jersey issue on Softy last week. Sounded like they had no knowledge of any such plans, but, as we all would, wanted to bring back the retro look.

I believe Nate’s quote was something like, “Bring back the silver helmets, man, that’s what I’m waiting for, everyone else gets to do it, why can’t we?”

    Again, for what it’s worth…

  28. BobbyAyala says:

Which reminds me, for all of the Branch haters out there (Hugh Millen), listening to those two clowns on Softy every week, really makes you appreciate the type of player Branch is. He doesn’t give two (expletives) on the amount of touches he gets so long as the Hawks win.

He’s a great guy to have on your team, there’s a reason why Brady was so pissed when we picked him up.

If he can fill that role of two, three, four first-down catches a game, mixed in with a big-time performance now and then, you’re getting your money’s worth.

People are so quick to judge, but let’s not forget some of the big-time performances he’s had. That St. Louis game a few years back, and the strip, recovery at KC. The man can play ball, and he’s a good man, the type TJ-bashing Seattle fans love.

I’ll never understand the animosity towards him, he tore up his knee trying to make a play in a playoff game. Last time a checked, knees are important to wideouts.

    Polk just scored, go Dawgs…

  29. nightwulf says:

I’m hoping that Locker stays under the radar and we can pick him up…looking at the growth he’s made in less than a season under Sark tells me that the sky might be the limit with this kid…imagine Hass who can run…

  30. For what is worth, my pregnant wife and I traveled from NM to go to our first game at Qwest field and saw a great one ! I am personally 6-0 at games I attend since 2005. We stayed at the same place the jags were at and I got a great pic while wrestling around with Del Rio.

Anywho. Love the stuff comin’ out here and GO HAWKS!!!!

  31. Dukeshire says:

Alright bitches, headed up to Qwest for the game. Next time you hear from me they’ll be 3-3 and we’ll be headed to a well deserved bye. I want to see Warner on his ASS multiple times today.

    LET”S GO ‘HAWKS!!

  32. nmseafan says:

Hey Mahk77 I live in NM also. Where are you located?

  33. with apologies to bobbyk…

Twas the down before fourth, Kurt Warner signals did shout
But no matter how loud, the 12th Man drowned his out.

He stepped back in the pocket, and scanned the field with his eyes,
as his linemen were girding against the defense’s quick rise.

Up under the chin, Brandon Mebane’s helmet then came,
the blue and neon-green lineman hell-bent on turning the game.

Then the ends pushed the tackles back into Kurt Warner’s face,
and as Curry broke into the backfield there began quite a chase.

The race ended in a flash, as the rookie lept from his feet,
like a tiger was pouncing to attack its fresh meat.

And as Warner trembled like prey dressed in red,
Curry took out his feet; Tapp lept on his head.

The QBs arm flailed the ball down the field while he prayed
that perhaps Larry Fitzgerald would come save the day.

Yet as the ball fluttered over heads and toward the ground
young Fitzgerald’s hands were no where to be found.

Two hands grabbed the ball, and it made Warner quite sad,
it was a charging Ken Lucas grabbing one last INT for Dad.

  34. nmseafan…I’m in Las Vegas. There is one other Seahawk fan in town and I figure a handful for the whole state. Where are you at?

  35. nmseafan says:

Makes me want to have warm milk and cookies and maybe an early Christmas gift like a complete humiliation of the Tards !

  36. nmseafan says:

Mahk77 I’m in Rio Rancho. I moved here in 2000 after living in Seattle for 17 years. What’s your connection with the Hawks?

  37. Ouch, what a game. nmseafan, I am from OK where my uncle who lived in Puyallup brought a jersey back and stuck it on me when I was a real little kid. That was that. I also lived in Puyallup for a couple of years, but I’ve stayed a fan everywhere I’ve went.
