The only real surprise is Justin Griffith (knee) is not active today, which means FB Owen Schmitt will start for the third straight week.

Coming into the game Griffith was probable, so it’s a little bit of a surprise that he’s not active and in the starting lineup, so perhaps he did not test well during the evaluation period this morning. Or perhaps the team believes Schmitt is the best option at fullback right now. Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp said this week that Schmitt has steadily improved each week.

Patrick Kerney (groin) is also out, which means that Darryl Tapp will get his first start at right defensive end.

For Jacksonville, the team’s leading receiver Mike Sims-Walker is on the inactive list for an apparent team rules violation. That certainly helps Seattle’s chances in this one. Mike Thomas will start for Sims-Walker.

And Tra Thomas will start at left tackle for Eugene Monroe, as the Jags chose to go with a veteran at Qwest Field. Uche Nwaneri will start at RG for Maurice Williams. And Brian Iwah will start at linebacker for Justin Durant.

Here’ s the rest of the list.

FB Justin Griffith
LB Leroy Hill
G Rob Sims
T Walter Jones
T Sean Locklear
TE Cameron Morrah
DE Patrick Kerney

QB Mike Teel will serve as the 3rd QB.

WR Mike Sims-Walker
CB Scott Starks
S Sean Considine
LB Adam Seward
LB Justin Durant
G Kynan Forney
T Jordan Black
DT Greg Peterson

  4. RichmondHawk says:

That sucks Griffith is out, I noticed the running game really crapped out against Indy. Guess what Griff didn’t play that game.

  5. oh it’s nice to have #8 back – we are so much more of a confident team with him in there.

D is playing great so far. Love the pass rush from Tapp, Curry, Mebane even. Keep it up Hawks.
