In an anticipated move to add depth at offensive tackle, the Seattle Seahawks announced the signing of offensive tackle to the active roster this afternoon, and released defensive lineman Michael Bennett in order to make room for Williams.

With only six active offensive linemen, the Seahawks needed to bring someone up to backup Brandon Frye and Ray Willis.

With 11 defensive linemen, Bennett was expendable. But the team had concerns about releasing Bennett at the end of training camp because of fears another team might snatch him up. So it will be interesting to see what happens to Bennett over the next couple days.

One thought was Seattle might release CB Travis Fisher or LB D.D. Lewis to make room for Williams.

    we couldnt release fisher due to lack of dept and Wilson maybe ready but is he 100 percent ready??? THe LB corps are still not healthy as D.Lewis will be release when Hill is 100 percent ready to go and Fisher will come back when Trufant is 100 percent.

    Thought bennett will be resigned by hawks after the game.

  2. I hope we can get him back! After Redding signs somewhere else in the off-season (nothing to base this on, just a hunch) I was hoping Bennett could be the guy who could slide from DE to DT in various situations. Definitely don’t see Redding back if we keep losing and a new regime wants “their” players in here.

    Bobby! You are alive and well, that’s good to hear. I know I rarely post here (always lurk). But http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/6699/no-laughing-matter-seahawks-fan-stabbed had me thinking “uh oh…”

    Wow twocolorcrayon…I had the exact same concern when I read the article a few hours ago. Glad you are okay BobbyK!

  5. Geeze… I hadn’t heard about that… I actually thought about driving up for the game on Mondaynight since it’s only about 2 hours from my house. I didn’t realize there were other Seahawk fans in this state (I may have gone to the game if I already hadn’t attended two of the Twins games at the Dome last weekend). Crazy stuff… As much as I’d love to punch someone like Bill Leavy, this is a little too crazy.

  6. Here’s to hoping the passion and intensity Mora promised us in January will be at Qwest Field tomorrow and we can get this season back on track with our Franchise QB back at the reign of this team and some starters coming back from injury. And lets hope it all ends with a Super Bowl win!!!

    I got lazy and didn’t feel like finishing the entire version of;
    ‘Twas the night before Christmas…

    Happy Reading (on the next post)

  7. ‘Twas the night before Jacksonville, and all through the VMAC
    Not a creature was stirring, but a loss tomorrow, and the FO will eventually pack;

    Qwest Field was ready for the 12th Man with care,
    With hopes of a victory soon would be there;

    While visions of three losses danced in their heads;
    With fans at the field, and I at home in my cap,
    Am about to settle down to watch the playcalling of Greg Knapp,
    When out of the tunnel, the Seahawks will hear a loud clatter,
    We fans will see Sunday if the rest of the season will matter,
    Away with the season, it could do down with a flash,
    And then the fans will have Ruskell and Mora to bash,
    But a win will give followers a sudden, optimistic glow,
    As opposed to a loss and the season buried in snow,
    When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
    But optimism, and another reason to cheer,
    With a grumpy d-coordinator, so lively and quick,
    I knew in a moment that Gus must be ticked,
    More rapid than actual Seahawks his coursers they came,
    And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
    “Now Mebane! Now Lofa! Now Grant and Wilson!
    On Cole! On Jackson! On Herring and let’s do some blitzzen!
    To the line of scrimmage to create a big wall,
    Now blitz away! Blitz away! Blitz away all!”
    As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
    When they meet an obstacle, mount to the sky,
    So up to left tackle the blitzers they flew,
    With a passion that was promised at a January press conference too.

    And then, in a twinkling, I hear through the TV,
    The announcer say another turnover and it’s fun for fans like me.
    As I drew the remote, and happiness was found,
    Down came Garrard, hard on the ground.
    He was battered and bruised and knocked out of bounds.
    He was dressed in visitor white, but a black helmet and shoes on his foot,
    And his uniform was all ripped and looked like ashes and soot;
    A bundle of picks he flung from his back,
    The ball was thrown before there was time for another sack.

    And after the game, as we heard the final whistle,
    And away the flew back down the home field tunnel like the down of the thistle,
    But I heard Matt Hasselbeck exclaim, as he ran out of site,
    “Happy Sunday to all, and to all a good-night.”

  9. Right on, Bobby.

    And to all, a Merry Sunday.

    damn BobbyK, that was awesome. haha

  11. Leif, the Seahawks fan stabbed in Minn (or BestFightStory) as he is known on the .Net website has been released from the hospital. He broke up a fight between the Packer and Vikings fan only to get bushwhacked by the Packers fan outside the bar. He was only playing peacemaker, but I guess the Packers fan wanted blood and chose to take it out on BFS.

    That is what he mentions in this thread:

    http://www.seahawks.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5503

    The story has been distorted so if anyone wanted another view, this may provide what happened.

  12. Seahawks should watch the Huskies game, and learn what it means to play with heart.

    Congrats Huskies, you rock. Sark, you are the best coach I have ever been around. You know how to motivate your players, and it is such a fun to watch your team at the battleground.

    Ruskell, you can go to hell.

  13. Bobby – you have it right. A successful ending to “Hasselbeck’s Last Stand” today and a major in-season turnaround is predicated on the defense “getting” Bradley’s scheme. The Defense has stunk for the last several years and I have no idea when that will end.

  14. Dukeshire says:

    Bobby – hahaha, That was really good. (I think someone’s ready for Christmas, early) Nice.

  15. Here’s this weeks links to watch and listen to the game online live.
