All the injuries to the O line are showing that we needed/NEED to draft more O linemen. Should have done it last few years, Unger is a good start but going to need another Tackle, maybe a Guard Next Year, not 2 years from now.
Next year, everyones going to want a flashy running back, or QB, but we need a line for the flashy guy to run or throw behind. Championship teams have GREAT LINES!! Our Great line is gone and Walt is winding down. Next year Draft T, G, S, CB and DL not in any specific order maybe pick up a Kicker to compete with Mare, even though he’s doing well, but he is aging. We have 2, 1 st rounders to play with.
Not panicking but we need to weather the storm get healthy soon.
Still think minus the 2 big runs we were in the game even though we couldn’t move the ball in the 2nd half.

The line hasn’t been bad this year. Only 1 sack allowed through 2 games with few QB hits IN THE POCKET.
The run game is a different story. Is that the Line or is that the weak RBs the Seahawks employ?

Eric,
I won’t be able to join the live chat (work) but if we could get a detailed injury report on each of our key guys in one of your next entries, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I think that’s a good post – our QB’s were pretty much upright yesterday – so I don’t think our line was that bad. And, it was pretty clear how much more difficult Forsett was to bring down than JJ – so much more elusive.

For a team that is committed to running the ball, the fact the line, through two games has been unable to really establish any consistency, speaks to how poor they have been. To me, anyway. One sack given up is good, but that is only a small measure of a line’s effectiveness. And yes, Forsett has earned more carries. He played a great game.

The running game obviously depends on both the line and the running back. The line has not done a great job of making decent sized holes for the running back but at the same time our running backs are not as smart as say an Adrian Peterson who knows how to find those holes. They do not have the awareness as a top of the tier running back.

The past two games started very slow for the offense. But when they kicked in to the 2 minute drill things clicked.
Just a thought
Thinking coach could start the game in a 2 minute drill to get the boys warmed up and the opponents D breathing a little + it would be one heck of a surprise to Da Bears.
Matt seems to really thrive in the 2 minute, but gotta wait to see where he is with the ribs, thinking he might miss a game. Seneca can do it also but not at the level Matt can.
The other day coach said all the QB’s wear flack jackets, didnt look like Matt had one when he got drilled, maybe the new ones are not so bulky

With how protective they have been this year with all of there key players, Matt definitely misses a game.

Lets just say matty is out for the season so we can be pleasantly suprised when we find out he’ll be back sooner!
That way we don’t have to listen to coachspeak later about how everything is inconclusive and matty is day to day…
Trying to be glass half full here, but things are piling up.

haha yeah that sounds good. They have told us so many times that “oh he will be fine” bull. Then they come back the next day and are like well, actually Matt has just died, we thought that it was just a bruised rib but the rib ended up breaking and smashing matt right through the heart. Don’t worry though, because we do not think like that. We look at the guys we have now and tell them it’s time to step up. We are very confident in our backups

“The running game obviously depends on both the line and the running back.” – I’m not going to disagree with that, but you don’t need AP to move the ball on the ground effectively. What you do need is a line that can open holes or control the line. And while I have faith in the scheme and realize it will take longer than 2 games to dial it in, changes up front need to be made, in spite of the injuries.

everyone who looking for or thinking about talking about next year draft should get off the waggon as their no room for you anymore. I am so sick of tired people like that who think the season is already over, people it only been 2 games so chill out.
Eric
what type of move is expected this week?

Because people talk about next year’s draft doesn’t mean that they have given up on this season, necessarily. I know I sure haven’t.

AP is the best RB in the NFL. He’s a freak.
However, he has some guys blocking up front like Steve Hutchinson who make life a heck of a lot easier on him to find holes.
Just so you know, he has fumbling problems and he’s one of the worst blocking backs at picking up the blitz (almost as bad as Alexander was).
Either way, I’d take him in a heartbeat.
Loved the Forsett run yesterday when he was dragging tacklers close to the goal line. He showed a lot of heart on that one.

I’m with you MauMau. We need a bigger, stronger O-Line, and we have needed it for years. We’ve never had a dominant OL like some of the other teams in the NFL, and I think dominant lines make average running backs look like great running backs. We need to fix this next year.
That said, the season is far from over. I was ready to jump off a cliff Sunday afternoon, but I’m a little better now. LOL.

I know and I am like you that I dont think season is over as it just starter but their are some out their that thinks the season over after 49ers lost and think that season over with the injuries and stuff. That what bugs me the most
