Pregame notes from Qwest

It didn’t take long for the Seahawks to get safety Nate Ness on the field.

After signing with the team on Wednesday the Seahawks’ new pickup is in uniform and wearing No. 41. Seattle also lists him as a cornerback on the roster, so maybe we’ll see him at a different position today.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh (sorness), C.J. Wallace (ribs) and Travis Fisher (hamstring) are not suited up for the game.

Walter Jones (knee), Chris Spencer (quad) and Marcus Trufant (back) will not play.

However, Seneca Wallace (groin) and Logan Payne (leg) are suited up and apparently will get some time today.

Running back Edgerrin James suited up and participated in pregame, but I’d be surprised if he played today. I don’t think head coach Jim Mora wants to risk an injury before the team’s first game.

  1. I wish this stupid Jets/Eagles game would hurry up and get over.

  2. seahawk44 says:

Is Julius Jones ok? He was not out there with the first team.

  3. Jones is OK. He’s not playing, along with a lot of the regulars tonight.

  4. Nick Reed is making plays again. What a shock.

  5. Warren Moon is truly a terrible announcer.

  6. 3 early comments:

    1. Teel continues to impress.

    2. Not only should Reed be a LOCK, I see him ahead of both Tapp & Jackson on the depth chart.

    3. Warren Moon may have been a great QB, but he’s a TERRIBLE commentator, let’s bring Brock Huard over to TV (or Hugh Millen). For that matter, I’d rather hear Steve Raible then the lame play by play guy they’ve used this ps.

  7. I also think Bennett is very close to leapfrogging over Bryant.

  8. I like Teel too. I think we may have something! Granted, the Raiders suck (so their back-ups must really suck) but it’s still technically NFL competition.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Reed is going to leap Tapp or Bennett over Bryant, but they are making it extremely difficult for anyone to cut them. There is no logical way Lawrence Jackson should get preferential treatment over them. These two rookies are making plays, and Jackson is in year two and still can’t come close to doing what Reed/Bennett are doing in their rookie training camp.

  9. I’m also suspecting that Obamanu has locked up WR #5.

  10. Moon just mentioned on TV that either Mare or Coutu will be cut. Ruskell bashing aside, I can’t imagine that he wouldn’t already have a trade worked out for a draft pick for the “loser”. Both are likely in the top 10 or 15 kickers in the league.

  11. Bryant and Bennett dont even play same position.

  12. Golfhack1396 says:

No one would trade for a kicker when they know Seattle would have to cut one of the two on Saturday anyway and they will be available for nothing.
