QB Cassel injured

Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel injured his left lack when Brandon Mebane sacked him on the third play. Cassel walked to the locker room and is being evaluated.

Seattle’s defense looked good on the first series, pressuring the Chiefs twice.

Cornerback Marcus Trufant (back), offensive tackle Walter Jones (knee) and center Chris Spencer (quad) will not suit up for Seattle.

For Kansas City, RB Kolby Smith, TE Jake O’Connell, LB Zach Thomas and LB Derrick Johnson will not play for the Chiefs.

Greetings from Arrowhead Stadium

I just got here about a half hour ago. A few Seahawks are warming up on the field, including Jordan Kent and Lawrence Jackson.

Several of the Seahawks coaches also are getting their workout in before they get ready for the game. Defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, linebackers coach Zerrick Rollins and of course, head coach Jim Mora all ran the stadium stairs before heading to the locker room to get ready.

Notes from Thursday practice

Ryan Divish filled in for me today, and offers these notes from today’s practice.

It was an absolutely stunning day on Lake Washington at the VMAC. The temperatures were in the mid-80s and the players seemed to be energized by the weather.

Mora: Edge will be complementary back

We got our first look at Edgerrin James in a Seattle Seahawks uniform this morning. He was wearing his customary No. 32, with cornerback Kevin Hobbs giving up the number for the 11-year veteran.

Hobbs said a deal is in the works, and is now getting used to the No. 38, with fellow players ribbing Hobbs throughout the practice by calling him Mack Strong.

Edge officially a Hawk

The Seattle Seahawks announced this evening that they have signed running back Edgerrin James to a one-year deal and released running back T.J. Duckett to make room for the move.

So there it is. James is now a Seahawk. From what I understand, James is in town so hopefully we get a chance to see him practice on Wednesday and talk to him afterward.

Hawks cut Ruegamer

Well, this is not the news we were expecting to hear.

Offensive lineman Grey Ruegamer is healthy, and now he’s no longer a Seahawk. Seattle waived Ruegamer this afternoon and picked up offensive lineman Brian De La Puente from the Kansas City Chiefs.

De La Puente can play guard or tackle and gives the Seahawks a little more depth at the offensive tackle spot with Walter Jones out.

Still no word on Edgerrin James.
