Last year Football Outsiders ranked:
DEN's OL 1st in run-blocking and 4th in pass pro,
CHI's OL ranked 25th in run-blocking and 11th in pass-pro, and
SEA's OL ranked 27th in run-blocking and 22nd in pass-pro.

Last Saturday, Orton was quick at getting the ball out, and Kyle threw three more times than Hasselbeck. Kyle was 18 of 26 for 182 yds and Matt was 16 of 23 for 171. Yet Matt's passer rating was 120 and Orton's was 85.7. Chris Simms was 5 of 7 for 44 yds and SW was 4 of 7 for 17. Yet SW's passer rating was 101.8 and Simm's was 87.8.

Kyle was playing like he was still behind CHI's OL while DEN's OL gave him all kinds of time to throw. If Kyle takes a little more time, DEN's pass-offense can maybe get closer to their performance of last year. Meanwhile, Matt, while he's also dealing with new (to him) WRs, played like he was still behind the '05 OL. If Matt quickens his release (when the team starts game planning and Matt and his WRs get copasetic) Hawks passing performance should get back to their '07 performance.

Draft Russel Okung with the 1st pick next year.

This guy would have been a teammate of Mebane's. I wonder if the front office listens to recommendations, or consults with players on the roster about potential free agent pick-ups.

You fairweather fans need to hush about the LT. They thought Walt might be okay, and Locklear was given a chunk of change to be Walt's heir. He had a bad game. If he sucks until Walt comes back, then they know to draft a guy next season. They weren't going to do that this season because all signs pointed to Lock being a serviceable LT.

Jammer, chill, dude, we know what Ruegamer brings to the table, and now we're trying De La Puente out to see what he's got...they're both depth anyhow...
In case last year wasn't a good enough lesson, it pays to have good depth...did you really think, FOR ONE SECOND that Ruskell would find a starting caliber LT just sitting around? Runyon is a possibility, but he's older than Walt...and Levi wants to be guaranteed a starting position, and be paid like it too...to be perfectly honest, there aren't 32 starting quality LT's in the whole league, and we've got one of 'em recovering from surgery right now...So it should be no huge surprise that his backup isn't an elite quality LT...Jeezus, get your collective heads outta your arses and give the bloody team a friggin' chance...

You're right, no way Willis is a LT. His weakness is speed pass rushers. His strengtn is mashing in the running game. He is a prototypical RT. Yes, it'd be nice if he were a bit better in pass pro, but he's pretty good there and certainly not a candidate for LT.

Ruegamer can be had again if we need him. Nobody else is going to look at him. That is why he got cut. Mora knows what he can do for us.
Of the topic. Last night I looked up at Ravens dept chart : their starting LT is 6'9" monster. Texas Longhorns have an LT almost that size coming out next draft that is rated top 5 LTs right now. Next draft is a gold mine for just about every position.

Craig Terrill and Travis Fisher both came out of the Denver game limping but they must be ok because I haven't seen anything about them.

Broncos just got Russ Hochstein from NE for a seventh round pick next April. That seems to me a better deal than getting DeLa Puente for nothing.

Willis simply does not have the feet to be a LT.

A 6' 2" tackle would be something to see. This dude's a guard.

I still would like to see Unger at C, since I think his ceiling is hire than Vallos' at that position, but that may take some time...
