Training camp Day 18: A Walter Jones update

First of all, a Walter Jones update.

Jones’ surgery was completed this morning by Dr. Ed Khalfayan and Dr. Mike McAdam at Seattle Surgery Center. From what we’ve been told, the surgery was successful. A spokesperson for the team said as anticipated, doctors removed some loose bodies and a little scar tissue from part of the original, microfracture surgery Jones had performed on his left knee in December.

We’ve been told Jones is resting comfortably and we’ll know more in a few weeks about his status when Jones can move around better.

The starters will play roughly the first half on Saturday, we’ve been told by a spokesperson for the team. And Mansfield Wrotto will start for Max Unger at right guard. So the starting offensive line will be Sean Locklear at left tackle, Rob Sims at left guard, Chris Spencer at center, Wrotto at right guard and Ray Willis at right tackle.

The Seahawks cut practice short today, as head coach Jim Mora eased back and cut practice to just an hour and 15 minutes this morning.

Players have said this has been a tough training camp. And more and more guys have missed practice due to nagging leg injuries, so Mora cut things short today.

Linebacker Aaron Curry did not practice again this morning, so he remains a question mark for Saturday’s game against Denver. Curry suffered a slight groin pull at Tuesday night’s practice at UW and has not practiced since.

Courtney Taylor and Julius Jones returned to practice. And T.J. Duckett, who suffered a slight concussion in last Saturday’s game, also made it through the full practice.

Also sitting out of practice were Chris Spencer (ankle), Walter Jones (knee), Marcus Trufant (back), Lawrence Jackson (leg), Nate Burleson (hamstring), Grey Ruegamer (elbow) and Ray Willis (knee).

Ruegamer looks like he’s getting close to returning. He worked with a trainer on a blocking sled after practice.

Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp and former Hawks offensive coordinator Gil Haskell had an extended conversation.

The Seahawks worked on scout offense and defense for Denver today.

Olindo Mare handled all of the field goal kicking duties during team, missing one field goal from about 50 yards out.

The team is scheduled to have another practice this evening.

That’s all for now.

On Tru’s back injury and for everyone else : there is a machine called “Inverter” and I swear by it. It is an awesome gizmo. You tie Your ankles and go upside-down ( make sure You do adjust it to Your height or, You’ll have an unpleasant and painful experience like me). It will align and fix Your back muscles and spine problems. Check it out !! After a (long) while, You can start twisting Your torso left and right…..You’ll feel like brand new baby (minus the diapers).
    Really, check it out.

  3. And Mansfield Wrotto will start for Max Unger at right guard.

    Why? Is Unger hurt also?

  4. nightwulf says:

Moo, Unger’s getting reps with the second team at C (presumably so that he’s in direct competition with Spencer) Wrotto’s not going to start the season at RG, it’ll be either Spencer or Unger, with the other one playing C…unless Big Walt’s ready to go, then they slide Lock (as I understand it) to RG, Unger and Spencer fight it out to start at C, and away we go…

  5. Moo: They want to get a look at Wrotto at right guard with the first team.

  6. nightwulf says:

    Yeah, that too:)
