From Mike Sando’s NFC West blog, agent Drew Rosenhaus announced via twitter that the Seattle Seahawks have signed cornerback Travis Fisher to a one-year deal. This move comes as little surprise, with the Hawks’ Marcus Trufant already on the active/PUP list with a sore back.
The Seahawks only have five cornerbacks available, and have been playing Jamar Adams at corner to beef up numbers there. This does make you wonder, however, how serious Trufant’s injury is.
Fisher is a seven-year veteran that has mostly started in the league, including eight starts with the Detroit Lions last season.
But for right now we’ll consider this a move to add depth for Seattle to get through camp.
UPDATE 3:32: The Seahawks confirmed the Fisher signing this afternoon. I’m headed out to practice.
Yes, it does make one wonder about the severity. Especially coming off of the Hass. debacle last season you can forgive Seahawk fans for being pessimistic if not extremely nervous about Tru’s back.

I say it’s likely more a casethat they have a roster spot free for now so they might as well get a body into camp at a position they are currently short.
Trufant being on the PUP means he doesn’t count towards the 80 man camp limit so until he’s ready to go there is a free spot. Also, until Curry signs there is another free spot so I wouldn’t be suprised to see another body brought in until it looks like Curry is getting close.
According to the roster the team had only 80 players counting Curry and Trufant.

It makes you wonder if “Here we go again?” with the damn injury bug.
I know you should never get too high in the good times, but I’ve been thinking/expecting a Super Bowl all off-season after a lot of the good stuff that had been going on.
And I know you shouldn’t get too low when things look tough (with Wahle and now Tru), but if this Trufant thing is significant and Rob Sims looking like an entrenched starter — things don’t look good at the moment.
Which means that we’re probably somewhere in the middle of my Super Bowl win prediction and “we suck because Rob Sims is going to start” doomsday crisis prediction.
Oh well, all we can hope for is the best.

Perhaps I’m off here (likely) but by my count, the Seahawks roster has 82 on it. That did include Curry, Tru and Wahle. All 3 are gone, for the time being, so after signing Fisher they’ll have to cut someone when Curry signs. I’ll double check my figures.

Some guys are injury magnets = Beenie Wells.

MR CURRY/SEAHAWKS, GET THE DANG CONTRACT SIGNED!!!!!

Dukeshire: You’re correct. They have 80 on the roster now. Trufant, from my understanding of it, counts towards that number. So they’ll have to release someone when they sign Aaron Curry.

boy oh boy, things are getting interesting already aren’t they? Wahle is done…that hurts my feelings. I really thought we would have him for a few years (starting last year) until we could get some young guys in there. But you know what, we already have a couple of young guys in there that are developing quickly (especially for their pick/value…see Wrotto, Vallos) so I give kudos to those individuals and the FO for getting ready and getting them in there. I only hope that CAR didn’t release Lucas for the same (now obvious) reason they did Wahle.
the trufant issue is only alarming (to me) in that it happened outside of camp itself and not whilst training but throwing the ball around??? That sounds a little fishy to me (pun intended).
I agree with Bobby that my expectations this year is to win the division (much to the chagrin of my friends in atlanta) and compete to get to the bowl. Nothing so far has derailed those expectations.

I don’t see how we can get any better by continuously adding players from the 0-16 Lions to our roster.

I do like Lucas and Wilson but we NEED Trufant if we want to get close to cover Fitza and Boldin
