The Seattle Seahawks are apparently working on wrapping up this year’s draft picks into new deals. Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel is the next in line, as Northwest Football.net is reporting that Teel has signed a four-year deal. Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed, per the report. Team sources have confirmed the agreement.

Teel becomes the second draft pick to sign with Seattle. Rutgers’ teammate Courtney Greene signed a deal with the Seahawks on Monday.

Per ESPN Mike Sando’s NFC West blog, Scout Inc’s Matt Williamson says the Seahawks weakness heading into 2009 is at running back. Here’s what Williamson had to say about Seattle’s main runner Julius Jones.

When comparing him to the other top option runners around the league, he is flat out subpar. Jones isn’t a bell cow runner who can carry the load and put Seattle’s opponent away in a close game. He has been around the league now for some time and no longer has much upside to his game. Jones’ tools are not bad, but they are only getting worse instead of better. He is what he is. And that isn’t good enough.

Do you agree or disagree with Williamson’s assessment? I tend to disagree, but we’ll have to see how the season plays out. I do agree with Williamson’s statement that replacements at running back are easy to find if things go south for Seattle at that position.

Mike Wilkening of Pro Football Weekly reviews the 19 new defensive coordinators in the league, including new Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley. Here’s what he has to say about Bradley.

Bradley, who has been praised for his energy and passion, has moved quickly up the ranks as an NFL assistant. He was a defensive quality-control coach for one year at Tampa Bay before spending two seasons as the club’s LB coach. However, head coach Jim Mora will have the final say on defense.

Sports documentary "The Call", featuring Seahawks fullback Owen Schmitt, will play again today, 4 p.m. at the Jewel Box Theatre in Seattle. Schmitt will be at the screening. Schmitt is interviewed by KING 5 TV here.
