The wheels continued to turn in Renton for the Seattle Seahawks today, as they announced the signing of two veterans they were rumored to be interested in, with former Seahawk Ken Lucas and ex-Oakland Raiders fullback Justin Griffith signing with the team.

Terms of their agreements were not disclosed.

What this means for the status of linebacker Leroy Hill remains to be seen. Seahawks GM Tim Ruskell maintained at today’s press conference for linebacker Aaron Curry that the two sides are still negotiating. But you would have to think the money is drying up with these two signing and the rookie draft class yet to be signed.

Griffith played for head coach Jim Mora in Atlanta and played for offensive coordinator Greg Knapp in Oakland, so he’s familiar with Seattle’s offensive scheme.

Lucas gives Seattle another big corner and should fit Seattle’s cover-2 scheme well. Lucas also played for defensive backs coach Tim Lewis when he served as defensive backs coach for the Carolina Panthers.

Here are some bios on Griffith and Lucas.

Griffith originally was selected in the fourth round (121st overall) in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons where he spent the first four years of his career until signing with the Oakland Raiders in 2007. He has started 61 of 83 career games and has rushed 90 times for 407 yards with one touchdown. He has also recorded 122 receptions for 871 yards with 11 touchdowns.

Lucas began his career in Seattle after being selected 40th overall in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He signed with the Carolina Panthers as an unrestricted free agent after the 2004 season and played four seasons in Carolina. He has played in 122 career games with 106 starts, totaling 506 tackles (69 solo), 24 interceptions, 100 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.
