Seattle Seahawks

TNT columnist Dave Boling reviews the Seahawks busy, free agent weekend, telling team officials to keep pumping gas in that seaplane.

Rob Rang of nfldraftscout.com talks with ESPN’s John Clayton on KJR 950 AM about the NFL draft. Rang says defensive tackle B.J. Raji has moved up the draft board with his 5.13 in the 40-yard dash and showing good quickness for his size in individual workouts, and now might be a possibility for Seattle at No. 4. Listen to Rang in this audio link.

Rang also says the top three picks are solidifying, with Matthew Stafford at No. 1 going to Detroit, Jason Smith going to the Rams at No. 2 and Aaron Curry going to the Chiefs at No. 3. Good stuff from Rob here, and worth a listen.

San Francisco 49ers

Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports that Arizona free agent quarterback Kurt Warner is headed to San Francisco to talk about possibly playing there after negotiations stalled with the Cardinals.

Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee reviews the 49ers weekend in free agency. He thinks the Chiefs trading for quarterback Matt Cassel could result in a player San Francisco wants at No. 10 being picked earlier in the draft.

Arizona Cardinals

Kent Somers of the Arizona Cardinals discusses the Kurt Warner story from Arizona’s perspective.

Darren Urban of azcardinals.com reports that Pittsburgh free agent cornerback Bryant McFadden is due to visit the Cardinals today.

St. Louis Rams

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post Dispatch says the Rams are not interested in signing Jeff Garcia as a backup quarterback.

More Thomas: The Rams get a special player to bolster the team’s offensive line with center Jason Brown.

The Rams are still trying to sign cornerback Ron Bartell, Thomas reports.

If Crabtree is available, it’d be stupid to take Raji over him.

  2. QB_Sneak says:

Rams sign Jason Brown and are poised to draft Jason Smith. They could have a formidable OL for the next several years. If Stephen Jackson stays healthy, and they revamp their D, they could be back in a big way.

  3. Dukeshire says:

Prediction – neither one will be drafted by the ‘Hawks. (Crabtree & Raji)

  4. Duke – I would think Crabtree has a definite chance to be drafted by the Hawks, given that Ruskell started talking early about wanting an ‘impact player’. Why not?

QB – I agree, the Rams could have some massive guys on O line, which means the Hawks definitely need more beef at DT.

I think Raji is unlikely unless Ruskell trades the pick down a few slots, which would be my strong preference as I think we need another massive guy like him at DT to tie up lineman and unleash our pass rushers. Still, given how Raji got pushed around in the Senior Bowl, he seems a reach at 4.

OT Monroe is a definite possibility at 4, but a backup OT sitting on the bench for a year or two is not an ‘impact player’.

DEs Orakpo or Brown just maybe could go at 4, and since Ruskell is bringing in guys like Canty to look at, it seems he still wants another pass rusher. At least these are the things I’m reading out there.
