Patrick Kerney, it turns out, does not have a torn labrum and just had to have his shoulder cleaned out. Mike Holmgren said he still does not know how long Kerney will be out, they will have a better idea when he gets back into town and can be looked at by the team’s doctors. He will stay in Birmingham for a few days following the surgery and should be back with the team by the end of this week.

Holmgren said the team may have to sign somebody else to fill in if Kerney is out for an extended period, but he needs more information on the length of time he will be out before he can make a more informed decision.

good news! I cant see him coming back this week but next week seems very possible

  2. That is some good news for once…he will probably be out 2-3 weeks however to allow proper strengthening. but knowing Kerney he will be back up to speed, barring unforseen medical setbacks, in a shorter time frame.

  3. Frank,
    Great news!
But I get those text messages from Q13 Fox and we all knew Hasselbeck would be out this Sunday but then it goes on to say that he’s expected to play Nov. 16th. Do you have any knowledge of this?
Is he doing better? Is he at practice today?

I am wondering if the Hawks would have interest in Andre Hall, since the Raiders just let him go. I think Ruskell drafted him in the ATL.

Our secondary has been a SIV lately…he would have to be an upgrade over Jennings.

  5. I know Hall isn’t the greatest “character” guy in the world, but maybe we need to have at least one crazy fckr on the team.

Ruskell/Mora have an obvious relationship with him.

He’s a great talent. Just a moron. An idiot machine who racks up personal fouls in crucial moments of the game. A cancer.

However, we all know talent wins in this league.

And if you do have a moron on the team, but the rest of the team is mostly made up of players of good character… perhaps it can be a good fit to have one jerk-off?

I wouldn’t put it past Ruskell to go after him (just b/c he drafted him).

And to get a great talent like this for “free” would be good for our talent pool. No signing bonus… just the contract…

Frank — can you ask anyone about this… I am intrigued…

I haven’t thought about it enough to think I’d be for or against it… but it is something interesting to think about. If he has his head screwed on correctly, he is one of the best talents at CB in the NFL. Talent wise, he’s better than Tru. Brain wise, he’s not even close to Tru.

There are a few guys (Kerney, Tatupu, J-Pete, Walter Jones, Bobby E., Nate B.) who would keep DeAngelo in check and tell him to shut his hole. I think even K-Rob could be a good influence on the guy. At some point Ruskell needs to trust that he has enough leaders on a team, and they need to be supported by some extra talent.

Have some confidence that those leaders will make others keep on the straight and narrow and buy in to the team concept.
