Wow. I already knew we weren’t a very good team but to see our rankings in black and white hovering bewtween #22 and #32 in almost every category is really quite disheartening. Ouch.

A better title for this entry would be:
“Preceding a disaster!”

If the Hawks are going to make the statement that the season isn’t lost then THIS is the game to do it in.

With each passing week I become more convinced that it’s not a S, CB, DL, or WR that we truly need, but time to draft a franchise QB (eenie, meenie, minie, moe – hope you pick the correct damn one) and grow up with him for a few years (i.e. while we’re rebuilding).
I know it’s tough to hit on the right QB in the first round, but, seriously, our luck is about to change.
Kelly Stouffer (although we didn’t actually draft him)
Dan McGwire
Rick Mirer (we were lucky to find a team dumb enough to take him off our hands)
Our first rounders have sucked, so the odds are in our favor to actually draft one in the first round that pans out.

QB eh…
How bout a GM that isn’t 100% idiot…followed with keeping SB talent.. i.e. LG’s, WR, safeties, etc etc and H coach..

well at least they allow more points they the Eagles..oh wait ..that;s a bad thing
as for drafting a qb…unless there is a sure fire no dobut (manning) I would be careful..who will be here to groom the next qb?
I think you have Matt and Seneca for the next 7 to 9 years……I would rather take a high pick on other impact players
Look how many prime qbs are drafted late or develop with another team…The Young Favre guy developed with someone else other than the Jets right (just before you jump on me ..he was a Falcon)
Unless you have a Coach Mike to groom a qb…me thinks you draft best player available…but what do I know…I live in Canada..and still hope like hell that 9 and 7 wins the division and that Kurt Warner gives up his soul again (you know…the one he sold to have his season with the Rams…how he got them to give him another run at it…yesssh ..he must have some good pictures )

I think it’s a year or two too early to write Hass’ epitaph – he’s been hurt all year, and even when (relatively) healthy, he’s had a sub-NFL level corps of receivers to throw to, and they’ve changed every game.
You don’t have to go very far back to remember how high a level Hass played at last year. And when you look around the league, there are plenty of QB’s significantly older than him, still playing at a high level.
I’m ready to spend a #1 on a receiver next year. Every so often you need to do it, and it’s been a long time for us (Koren was the last wideout we took with a high pick right?). As has been discussed, the Branch pick-up hasn’t worked out as we’d all hoped.

Going into the year, I was fine/happy with 5 more years of Hass. I’m scared about back injuries.

If we keep WC offense we need WR who has experience with it or we won’t have use of him in first, maybe second year. And how there are 3-4 WR that are worthy first round pick there are slim chance we will get one we need. My guess is to try with OG or CB, maybe C or DT in first and search for WR in second or third. But probably trying trade down.

That’s a reasonable point. I guess I’m making the assumption he’s going to come back fine, which may not be true. Seems like by draft time next year the team should know where he’s at body-wise. And if Hasselbeck is no longer able to play, then all bets are off, and it probably is full-on rebuild time.

more than reasonable but egads….with our injury luck there is no way possible Hass is that bad off,,,right?
Should we inherit a high draft pick for this coming year would just a soon pick up the BPA. WR is a crap shoot and the top tier rarely come with a high pick. Most have trouble staying at the top for that matter. Give me a power house down in the trenches…that’ll do the trick!

Matt is not done, and will be back before Thanksgiving. It is time to look for a replacement, if you will remember, Matt was a backup to Brett Farve in Green Bay. I don’t have that warm fuzzy feeling with Sencena or Charlie, lets draft a QB to learn under Matt.

I wish Seattle would (maybe they did) take a look at what San Diego just did with their DC for pretty much the SAME issues our defense has, one of them being no pass rush. We got to get to the QB more to throw them off. But also with our db’s playing what seems to be prevent most the time it is easy to find a open receiver for a easy gain and most likely a first down. These third and longs and making them are killing me! Bump him, push him, do something to throw them off. Losing Kerney for the week is going to hurt, but now it’s time for others to step up. Go Hawks!
