This interesting stat was provided by the Seahawks’ PR department:

Since 1970, only five running backs have had two receiving TDs for more than 43 yards in the same game. Church Van Weaver is the only fullback among the five.

Don Woods San Diego Nov. 3, 1974

Joe Cribbs Buffalo Nov. 1, 1981

Eric Metcalf Cleveland Sept. 20, 1992

Patrick Cobbs Miami Oct. 12, 2008

Leonard Weaver Seattle Oct. 26, 2008

Stats, etc.

  1. Frankie,
Any chance we are going to get results today from Matt’s doctor visit yesterday in LA?

  2. I read an article this morning about his visit yesterday.
He has a “dead leg” feeling. So the weakness in his leg is still there. Doctor didn’t clear him to play this weekend, and will not need surgery.;-won't-need-surgery

  3. Oh and don’t forget to vote for Josh Wilson for GMC Defensive Player of the Week.

    Here is some news.

  5. tcbaytown says:

This is “off-topic”, but can anyone tell me why Jim Haslett is not eligible to become head coach with the Rams, and Jim Mora is eligible with the Seahawks. Doesn’t the spirit of the Rooney rule apply to all situations, or are there “exceptions”?

“Jim Haslett is not eligible to become head coach with the Rams”

I understand he is eligible, but he would be required to interview along with other candidates, including any African-American candidates. Mora does not have this requirement.

  7. OutSydeDog says:

Haslett was hired AFTER Linahan was fired. Mora was hired BEFORE Holmgren vacates. As always, timing is everything. GO HAWKS!

  8. This may be a little off-topic for this thread…but WAY TO GO WEAVER! I hope they start throwing to him more often.

  9. PDXCOP80 says:

Does anyone know where the “church van” nickname came from?

  10. seahawk44 says:

I’ve been screaming it since the beginning of the season…..with the injuries at wr, the coaches HAVE to get the backs involved in the passing game. I hope they realize, NOW, that they have a legit weapon in that area. Remember the 49er WCO with Roger Craig? Please get more inventive in the play calling. This week was a good start, but, I think Holmgren should never go the conservative, close to the vest, direction ever again. It’s his last season, let’s let these guys play.
