The Seahawks signed rookie running back Justin Forsett from the practice squad to the active roster on Tuesday and have released wide receiver Michael Bumpus.

I can only assume that Forsett is going to return punts and perhaps kickoffs, and that Bumpus, if he clears waivers, will be put back on the practice squad

  1. I think they’ve done this to stop the Colts trying to sign him from the practise squad.

Indy lost Addai and Hart on Sunday and are actively looking for a RB. Chances are they were moving for Forsett and the Hawks didn’t want to lose him again.

Could be. It’s not like our receivers are going to be seeing any action other than downfield blocking if that gawdawful Frye is playing quarterback this week.

  3. freedom_X says:

That sounds likely, I also heard the Colts were hurting at RB. To be specific, if he were going to get stuck on a practice squad, Forsett preferred to stay on Seattle’s, but the Colts could offer him a roster spot and get him that way.

So it’s very possible that Seattle had to either offer Forsett the same deal (roster spot) or lose him to Indy.

A shame aboout Bumpus though – one of the few Seahawks who met or exceeded expectations. Shows that they really are giving Koren Robinson a real chance though. I’d have preferred to see Coutu released, but I read the Jets have 2 kickers AND 2 punters, so maybe Ruskell isn’t that crazy.

  4. I’d argue that Bumpus is more valuable to the Seahawks than McMullen.

  5. seahawkbryce says:

As a huge Coug fan i hate to see Bumpus cut.

  6. Joe C — I’d argue the same point.

  7. I also agree with Joe C.

Still, at this point it’s nothing more than shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic… or is that the HMS Ruskell?

  8. Dukeshire says:

Addai’s injury isn’t supposed to be serious and Dungy said he expects him to play Sunday.

  9. chucklenuts66 says:

now if we could only sign a third kicker..

  10. chucko24 says:

hmm glad we got forsett back:) Could we have been willing to give what dalls did for roy williams?

I know you are all gonna jump my ish for saying that but my argument is we have not had a true number one since brian blades. (last pro bowl WR)

Wouldnt that send a message that wernt punting on the Walrus’s last season?

If Hass came back with Roy WIlliams, Bobby Engram and Branch………Bet the farm Hass would be happy!!

maybe the problem is more than we see. Like the DEFENSE!!!! Ill take your comments off the Air…

  11. kriegtoskansi says:

Even with Roy Williams on the team, you have to be able to stop the other team occasionally on third down and not get beat over the top all day long by the other teams receivers.

I hate to see bumpus get cut, but I’m not that confident that Branch will be on the field much this season, so maybe he’ll be back.

  12. PDXCOP80 says:

    Now that was funny chuckleunuts

  13. mquinn73 says:

Will Forsett actually see any game time or will he be inactive on gameday? And, what will he have to offer besides returning kicks?

The team currently has 3 tailbacks and 2 fullbacks on the roster – now we’re carrying another halfback in Forsett.

However, if Forsett can prove that he can play in the NFL [i.e. contribute by running the ball as a 'change of pace' back] then that should make Morris expendable. What trade value, if any, does Morris have?

  14. Right now I can’t imagine any team wanting the receivers Seattle keeps let alone one they release. That said, his hands seem better than Colberts and McMullens and he is younger. Not sure they released the right WR.

I’m glad Forsett is back. I wonder if he will be returning both kickoffs and punts.

  15. I asked this befor, the tail spin the team is in will it cost Ruskell his job?
If we get a high draft pick (1-10)should we cut,or trade Branch. And draft 6’5″ 220lbs W/R from USC?
It maybe a little early to even ask these kind of questions.

  16. hawksrdie says:

i think that bumpas is a less than decent fill in for engram he muffed punts and is just another in a long line of small receivers. while i think he played better than colbert he has a deal to cut him would count against the cap and Mcmullens brings something no other wideout on this team has the size to play over the middle and he has played in this system a long time

  17. hawksrdie says:

if teams will sign alexander they should be able to give a 5th or 6th rounder but it will have to wait deadline was yesterday
