NFL.com’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Jim Zorn is bringing in Shaun Alexander for a workout tomorrow because Ladell Betts injured his knee on Sunday. We’ll see if Shaun still has what it takes to impress NFL coaches.

Don’t forget Stump Mitchell is the RB coach as well… this is a done deal unless Alexander still has a cracked bone in his foot.

I would think both of those guys are two who know Alexander is washed up as well as a wuss. When the Bengals pass on you and sign Cedric Benson, you know you’re a has-been.

LMMFAO, Shaun will come back to Qwest and make everyone’s grin turn upside down. He’s actually going to have an o-line and a valid passing attack accompanying him when he comes riding back into Qwest.
Regarding signing Forsett, they could but only if Indy can get him to “Sign” a contract. Didn’t sound like he was willing to do that when he came back.

I remember SA running hard in his final year here. I think the one play that ended his time here (besides the chronic injuries) was his hesitancy in taking the ball from Matt in the game in AZ, ending with a fumble and a game winning FG for AZ in the final seconds.
Good luck SA, end up with at least 200 TDs and 10,000 yds.

KLM, Remember though. Hasselbeck changed the play right before the play started. Or at least Shaun thought he did. Matt called it a “dummy audible”.
The real question is, who was the “dummy”? At this point, it appears that it was not Shaun. Last year after 5 games, the Seahawks were 3 and 2. Now, the Hawks are 1 and 4.
And Shaun is about to sign with a 4 and 2 team, while Hasselbeck is out injured from his 1 and 4 team. And those “dummy audibles” didn’t appear to work against the Giants either.

I wish Shaun Alexander all the best, wherever he ends up. Love him or loathe him, no true fan can deny that while he was in Seattle, at the top of his game, he was very, very good…
I have no regrets that he’s gone now – it was time for both him & the team to move on in different directions. But that doesn’t mean we should forget or dismiss all that he did during his career here [and the stats prove that he had a great career in Seattle].
What would we give to have a young no.37 [circa 2001 - 2005 seasons] on this team now?

I would take a healthy SA now – he doesn’t even have to be young. Look at what SA did in the first 4 games last year. That is the measure he should be compared to not the injured and no-Mack, tired Gray SA that you all blame for all our woes of the past two years. Seems we are much worse off without him than we were with him.

I don’t think the team’s problems this year have anything to do with the loss of Alexander. We’re doing fine with our running game, except for going away from it too soon.

It baffles me how “true” Seahawks fans could dislike a Seahawk who was a large part of the team’s stature among the elite. Now the team has gotten rid of him, supposedly upgraded the position and is one of the 3 worst teams in the NFL.
Someone needs to compare Hasselbeck’s record with him as a starter and without him. I’m sure there will be a big difference.

Just Amazing. He was the MVP of the NFL in 2005. How many other NFL MVP’s have the Seahawks had?
And it was those same fans that demanded that Shaun was re-signed by Ruskell to the long term deal that Shaun wanted. How quickly those fans change.
Shaun took the Seahawks to the Super Bowl. Jones has led the Seahawks to 1 and 4.

Hutch and Walt had a hell of a lot more to do with Shaun’s season in ’05 than Shaun had.

BobbyK, You almost said it yourself. You said that Hutch and Walt had more to do with Shaun’s ’05 season than Shaun.
Now that could be argued. But we would all agree that Shaun would not have had the ’05 season with Walt and Hutch. I would say that you could give all three of them the proper credit for the success of that year.
But here are the real questions. Why did the fans boo Shaun? Shaun was the NFL MVP, and had 1,800 rushing yards in 2005. AP is likely not going to get 1,800 yard behind Hutch this year. And then Shaun played with injuries. And the fans booed him.
And now, even after he has been shown the door, some Seahawks fans are still calling him names like “Shauna” and “a wuss”. WHY?
If Shaun is elected to the Hall of Fame, with these some fans go to his induction ceremony and boo him there?

BobbyK, Pro Football reference did a study where they normalized RBs production based on their offensive line. Alexander moved up in the rankings when they did this. He produced while playing behind the likes of Todd Weiner, Chris Terry, Floyd Womack, Floyd Wedderburn, Chris McIntosh, Chris Grey, etc.
