Former Seattle Seahawks fullback and Fox Sports Northwest sportscaster Mack Strong will visit the Samsung Sound Lounge at Bumbershoot to host the DJ Scratch Academy, as well as guest DJ and play his favorite songs for everyone to enjoy. Strong will be there from 5-5:45.

Anyone attending Bumbershoot will be able to participate in the DJ Scratch Academy, which allows festival goers the opportunity to learn first-hand from the experts how to scratch and mix and create their own unique music CD or video to take home with them.

The Sound Lounge will also have a digital green-screen photo area where people can take their pictures to print onsite to take with them. In addition, the festival wristband also offers free prizes – festival attendees will get a free day pack and free night glo, which can be redeemed at the Samsung Sound Lounge booth.

  1. you know, i was really hoping mack wasn’t going to risk his long-term health by “pulling a fav-ruh”.

also, WAY off topic – i can’t believe i’m going to bumbershoot, awful festival. however, my kiddo wants to go, so… the things we do!

how is bumbershoot an awful festival? it’s one of the most highly regarded music and art festivals in the U.S. perhaps you are just way out of touch.

what day will mack be there, frank?

  3. kurtis – actually, i’m pretty much “in touch”, as i’m decently connected to musicians, clubs, and studios around town.

see, i used to jam the austin scene, and there was a point when south-by-southwest (sxsw) was a neat little festival where there were a lot of bands from a lot of places, and you could go see anyone, and just have a great time.

then, they started selling all the good seats to the corporate execs weeks before anyone else.

didn’t bumbershoot used to be free? if so, why am i now paying $40 a ticket to see a bunch of scenesters play?

easy – because i care about my boy, and he’s starting to form a solid interest in the arts. the ticket price is worth it to me, even though i don’t care for the “scene”.

but, this is a seahawks blog – you can always read my own blog for stuff like this.

  4. Can I get Mack to throw me a forearm shiver?

  5. kurtisballard says:

i agree to an extent on the ticket prices. they have taken advantage of the situation, but when you can still get a 3 day pass for only 60 bucks (if you buy early), you’re getting the best deal you could possibly get at an american music festival. maybe this year’s lineup isn’t as strong as some, but i am still willing to say that if bumbershoot is catering to any particular scene then they are catering to them all.

i still would like to know what day mack is going to be there.

I would love to see Mack coaching our running backs. I think he would be a hell-of-a-coach.
