Make it two straight NFC player of the week honors for the Seattle Seahawks.

On Wednesday, Marcus Trufant was selected for his three-interception game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Last week, Lofa Tatupu won the honor for his three-interception game against the Philadelphia Eagles. it marks the first time in team history the Seahawks have recorded back-to-back three-interception games. The last time a pair of teammates had three interceptions in consecutive games was in 1962 when the Buffalo Bills’ Marv Matuszak and Carl Charon did it.

Trufant also had six tackles and scored on an 84-yard return-touchdown as the Seahawks clinched their fourth consecutive division title with a 42-21 win over Arizona. The touchdown marked the first score of his career and the return tied for the third-longest in team history.

In his fifth year from Washington State, this is Trufant’s first career Player of the Week Award and he is the second Seahawk in a row to be honored on defense (Tatupu). The last time two Seahawks were named Defense Player of the Week in consecutive weeks was 1997 when linebacker Chad Brown (Week 3) and safety Darryl Williams (Week 4) were selected.

Congrats to Marcus Trufant. He has definitely been exciting to watch. Maybe some of it will rub off on Kelly J. I’m always pulling for him to make a interception or two. He’s always right there, getting in the way & making plays. He may be one of the smallest corners in the league but he’s pesky like Marcus. ‘Mosquito Men’, if you will. Not really a flattering name but they can really bother some of the best receivers around & I love it!
    Keep in comin’ Marcus!

Marcus has become a very good, yet expensive problem to have. I was watchimg espn and saw John Clayton on inside the huddle talking about Trufant and Asante Samuel big payday coming up next year during the offseason. 10yr/100mil deal Nate Clements set the bar is a bit to much for any cornerback.

    Hawks Roll!

Good for Tru!! Was it really ten years ago that Chad Brown was playing for the HAwks?

  4. QB_Sneak says:

This one is gonna cost us. Tru’s agent is probably shopping for a new house right about now.

But good for Marcus, totally deserved it. I’ve said since training camp, he has looked great.

  5. Who the heck is Darryl Williams?
Can’t say I remember that name at all…

Safty from Miami, Played with the bengals

  7. Tru doesn’t seem like a guy who would push the market for every last penny. I hope that is the case and his loyalty to this team, teammates and city is his strongest priority and will take a fair contract. With how he’s playing, he deserves a nice contract, and we should honor that, but I just hope that process doesn’t go down the wrong path.
