Should have been considered last year. Would be very cool to see him make it in this time.

  3. truehawk says:

There are a lot of great players on that list………I hope Tez gets in to represent this organization, but even if he misses this time……he WILL get in and be next to Stevey to represent………Go Hawks!

  4. Does anyone know the requirements regarding who gets in? Specifically, is there a limit to the number of players that can be voted in, or is it like baseball, you need a certain percentage of votes?

  5. jerrycurl says:

PaulieP- All you need to be considered is retired for 5 years if your a player or coach. The rules for non-player/coaches is different. The minimum and maximum number of nominees that can be elected was raised from a minimum of three and a maximum of six, to a minimum of four and a maximum of seven.

At this point, the only 2 who are guarantees are Chris Carter, and Darrell Green. Beyond that who knows. I still can’t believe Lynn Swann is a HOFer. Especially that he went in before John Stallworth & Art Monk(Why isn’t he in?). The Hall lost a lot of credibility to me after that. I still don’t understand why Tez wasn’t on the list of 124 last year. Clerical error? He was named to the 90’s ALL-DECADE team, and outside maybe John Randle, was the most dangerous interior D-Lineman of his era. This should be a no brainer, but then it’s up to a bunch of people who’ve for the most part NEVER played the game.

I thought his not getting inducted last year was a snub, let alone his not even being a finalist. I sure hope he gets in this year!

  7. halfemptyfilms says:

Doesn’t it usually take a few years to get someone into the HOF? I don’t really expect Tez to make it this year NOT because he doesn’t deserve it (was there any better defensive lineman throughout the 90s? Nope), but because… well, he played in siberia. He’ll get in eventually and HOPEFULLY this year!

    GO TEZ!

  8. bobbyk03 says:

Since the Seahawks sucked during most of his glory years, I doubt he’ll get in anytime soon (if ever). Kenny Easley was a better Seahawk and he’s not in.

halfemptyfilms – there were a few better defensive linemen in the 90s… Reggie White and Bruce Smith come to mind… Don’t get me wrong, ‘Tez was still a stud, I just don’t think he’ll get in. If he would have been a ‘9er or Cowb!tch, then he’d be in already.

  9. c_hawkbob says:

Tez was every bit the player and Seahawk that Kenny was, and that’s no knock on Easley.

  10. mibuttiznum says:

he was THE brightest star on that 92 squad. It’s a shame we couldn’t see him in the playoffs very much. Only one showing against a fossilized Dan Marino was sort of sad.

  11. Cortez Kennedy was awesome. There has never been a defensive lineman like him. I saw him chase down running backs 45 yards downfield and catch them more than once. I have never seen a DL do that before or since. Not Reggie White, not Smith–no one played with the fire and competitiveness of Tez. That said, Tez never played in the Super Bowl, and that seems to be more and more a requirement to get in the Hall of Shame. If you were a good member of a great team, youre in–if you were a great player on a bad team, youre not getting in for nothin’. Another problem for Tez is he burned out–his last 3-4 years he lost his speed, and was no longer dominating–plus Holmgrens defensive scheme sucked. White and Smith were playing at a high level for 12 years plus. Tez, unlike White and Smith, was every bit as good at stopping the run and covering TE occasionally as he was at pass rushing. The Hall seems to forget that run-stuffing was just as important as pass rushing.

I still think Tez was the greatest DL ever for 6-7 straight years. He was THE complete player.

Easley should be in the HOF. Almost as likely as a posthumous nod for Dave Brown. Both were incredible.
