This is the unedited version of the review box that will appear in the morning paper:

SCORE: Seahawks 23, 49ers 3.

WHERE THEY STAND: The Seahawks are in first place in the NFC West with a 3-1 record, a game ahead of San Francisco (2-2) and Arizona (2-2), which defeated Pittsburgh. St.Louis (0-4) already is having a long year.

A LOOK AHEAD: A rematch with the Pittsburgh Steelers, who beat the Seahawks in the 2005 Super Bowl. They are different teams and the Steelers have a new coach, but that will not stop the comparisons to that ill-fated game.

BEST PLAY: Holding a tenuous 3-0 lead and with the offense struggling, Matt Hasselbeck hit Deion Branch for a 65-yard pass that seemed to open up the offense. A play later Hasselbeck hit Bobby Engram for a touchdown.

WORST PLAY: For the second time this season, the Seahawks had a punt blocked. Keith Lewis bulled Jordan Babineaux into the backfield and got a hand on Ryan Plackemeier’s punt.

STAR OF THE GAME: Julian Peterson, playing against his former team, had four tackles, three sacks and two forced fumbles, spearheading a defensive unit that limited the Niners to 184 yards of offense.

QUOTEBOOK: "Make no mistake, Frank Gore’s a very good runner. But if you shut him down, it’s tough for the 49ers to get untracked offensively. Besides that, they lost their starting quarterback today. That’s got to hurt." Marcus Trufant.

PERSONNEL NOTES: Mike Holmgren pulled Seneca Wallace out of the mothballs and allowed him to utilize his various skills. He had a reception, a run and a pass. … TE Marcus Pollard got involved in the offense again, catching two passes, including a touchdown. … Maurice Morris was back after missing two weeks. He had five carries for 13 yards.

MEDICAL REPORT: Alvin Pearman had a serious knee injury. Ray Willis also had a knee injury, though it is not believed to be as serious as Pearman’s. Josh Wilson has an ankle injury.

frank, did you get what russell said to dilfer that had him in a bunch? It looked pretty funny on the telecast.

  2. I saw that too. Trent was all riled up.

  3. OK so now I understand why we are passing on 3rd and 2. I will shut my mouth. Thanks for understanding.

At least we won… and got to beat up some 49ers too!!

  4. snydro22 says:

That’s the second time you’ve gotten the Trufant quote wrong.. He said it is hard for the 49ers to get “ON TRACK” offensively, not “UNTRACKED” which would make no sense at all..

  5. doubledink says:

Osi Umenyiora got 6, count em, six sacks today! So much for Ju P’s chances of Def. Player of the Week.

  6. stephentrapani says:

Frank I have to congratulate you on your post game quotes here on the blog. Really stellar. I love it. Keep it up!!

We are swimming in a gluttony of Seahawk heaven!

id love to find out what he said, it got me pumped on the couch seeing russell in there jawing it out with dilfer.
dilfer did a 180 to get some last words in, russell must have ripped him a new one.

  8. snegura2002 says:

What did B-Russ say to Dilfer?

  9. jzulaski says:

I believe the reason that punt got blocked was two-fold: it was a very low snap that Plack had trouble catching. Basically, he caught it up off the ground and that slowed his timing somewhat.

That, plus no one blocked the guy rushing the punter. :-(

  10. waveblasternutcase says:

whatever he said to TD took a few seconds to sink in, then a quick 180!!! he should have moved that fast in the pocket!!!! Game Ball to the DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. snydro22 – I normally read the headings before posting… At the top of the page it says “”This is the unedited version of the review box that will appear in the morning paper””

Please pay attention before posting. You make yourself look rediculous at times. As an FYI, try and enjoy the post.

  12. Talons: Bless You,Bless You!!!!

  13. Last time Seneca caught a pass… we played the Stealers the next game. How weird is that?

  14. Frank:
How bad is Josh Wilson’s ankle?

  15. IDHawkman says:

Are Willis and Pearman getting MRI’s today?

  16. sea2mjw says:

Alvin Pearman has a torn ACL and is out for the season. He will allow the swelling to subside before having surgery.

Ray Willis has a sprained knee and is out for about six weeks.

Josh Wilson has an injured ankle and is out for one or two weeks.
