Maurice Morris was back at practice and Mike Holmgren said he will play. He sat out Thursday because his hip got sore after practicing Wednesday.
Ben Obomanu was getting a lot of work and also will play, which will be nice to see after he had such a promising preseason.
Will Herring was out for the second straight day; Holmgren said he will be a game-day decision.
Hackett and Joppru are out, but Holmgren said Joppru will be back before D.J, who is out until the bye week.
Matt Hasselbeck looked sharp. He led the offense through a lotof red-zone work, normal for Friday.
Lofa Tatupu continues to build on his strong season. He had a few notable plays – one INT and another tipped pass over the middle. Julian Peterson also had a breakup in the end zone, getting ready to play his former tam. And Brian Russell made a pick in the end zone of a pass that Seneca Wallace zipped.
The next 2 weeks are going to tell us a lot. The ‘Hawks need to beat SF on the road – they can’t go down 3 games in the division race. Then, _after they beat SF_, they need to beat Pittsburgh on the road.
Win the next 2 and Seattle will have a legitimate claim to being one of the best teams in the NFC. Lose them both or even split and we are looking at a very tough road.

I honestly don’t expect the hawks to win this one. They have to prove they can stop the run on the road before they can be considered elite.
As it is, we can lose the next two and still make 9-7 or 10-6 … No panic.
I hope they show me something other than that seemingly emotionally pancake flat D matched up against a rookie line in AZ.
Let’s go!

Welcome back, Mo-Mo.. Yesterday’s news had me scared there for a minute..

they’ll take the niners. if i were joe namath, i’d guarantee victory, then kiss suzy kolber.

Doc is right about this being a road game and needing to prove it can handle stopping the run on the road. We’ll see….that would be a big concern. But if they do go out and put forth a strong performance, we can be very excited.

This game tells us if the Seahawks are going to go 12-4 or 8-8/9-7.

It was hard to say that Hill being out made a difference in the AZ game but I really believe it did once he was back against Cinci. 7 tackles, 2 assisted tackles and a forced fumble. I believe he will make a difference in the run game again this weekend too.

Leroy Hill would’ve made a huge difference in the Arizona game. Let’s not forget if not for the muffed handoff, they’d be 3-0. If they don’t come out with a lot of energy, especially with the Niners beating them both times last year, I’d be very surprised. I feel pretty good about this game. Next week, 50-50.

Frank, can you please tell us if Perlman has been getting some reps running the ball with the 1st Team in practice?

Uh… this game tells us if the Seahawks are going to go 3-1 or 2-2. That’s all. Geez.. it’s the 49ers, it’s week 4. You could dump this game and run out the rest of the year without a loss. Or you could win this game, Matt gets hurt, and we never win another this season.
Don’t project more into this than necessary. It’s a cliche, but one game at a time.

When we beat the 9urs with a punctuation mark, winning at Pitt seems alot more reasonable.
Snydo22 is a 9ur fan, beware.
I should know, I live in Nineraiderland (No.Ca.) and listen to the same blah blah just talking to my neighbor.

Hey buddhabrad, what happened to that copyright-infringing post? What a shock.

It is not the end of the world if we lose, but it will make it difficult if we do. This is a division game against the up and comer. This is the week where all the work put into up to now needs to pay off. The team should be motivated without a word from the coaches. The psyche of the team changes significantly between winning and losing this game. This is an important game for this team. I am eager to see how much skill and character are displayed in this game.

Agree totally with Doc_Bucket: the Hawks have to show at a time like this (the next two games) that they can stop the run while on the road. Until they (and we) know that they can do that in fact against a decent running team none of all their (and our) higher aspirations as a team are more than hot air really.

I agree with one game at a time, but wouldn’t it be nice to go into pittsburgh with some momentum?
× Flag comment
honostly i believe this team can go 12-4 13-3 if the defense playes to their potential & the line playes better especially better at run blocking
× Flag comment
I would like to see some smash mouth running from the “o” line. “Hawk and Roll”
× Flag comment
Along with what Mr Bucket says I would add it is equally as important to create some running room on the road. Control the line of scrimmage, period.

Dude, I’m so busted.. In the thick of my 26 year infiltration of the Seahawks community, I’ve been exposed by YoloHawk as the Niners (or 9urs if you’re slightly retarded) fan that I truly am.. I am no longer the Donnie Brasco of the internet sports blog scence..
Damn you, YoloHawk.. I would have gotten away with it..

true fans care more about what’s at stake this week, not as much about our posting i.d.’s and characters. (at this point, mine’s not even spelled correctly). leroy hill and lofa tatupu make a great combo together. we need them both in at once. ben obomanu will be a big difference for us if he’s up to running hard. that boy can play, and he’s not afraid of the big stage. i’m a bit concerned about our good hands people feilding and holding onto the ball in that goofy wind and such they have in the land of rice-a-roni and flowers. we need to come out and hit the way we did against tampa in the second quarter, and if jackson catches one, we need to make his helmet fit worse than it did before he got that big nappy doo knocked back. bust ‘em in the mouth early, and often. our intensity and attitude will show if we are who we wanna be in this one. it’s our west! ya’ gotta take it from us, not talk about it, san-fran!

Oh, come on! Snydro posts a welcome back to MoMo and… and what? If you’re going to jump on him, at least wait for him to post something at least a little bit objectionable. (Something like what Airbags posted about guaranteeing a 49er victory. But well wishes to MoMo?!? Sheesh!) And it doesn’t matter what his previous posts in other threads might have said, his post here was completely innocuous.

Winning this week will raise Hawks fans expectations to the highest levels for this season, a loss keeps it more under control.
Interesting note: the Hawks play against two consecutive 3-4 defenses in SF and PIT. That’s worth noting, as it should make the pittsburgh adjustments a bit more easy to make. In the past when the Hawks have played versus a 3-4 defense, its been an isolated game in the midst of their schedule.
My greatest concern about this week is how the Hawks play on the road. The defense hasn’t looked good on the road…they don’t have that extra quick step then have at home. Everything else I feel good about for the Hawks. Let Alex Smith try to beat us.

I’ve got the Hawks winning this one 16-12.. I know it’s an odd score, but I went over each aspect of the game and that’s what I came up with..
Thank you, Blue Talon..
And jcoleman – I’m married, have a great job and a 3 month old who couldn’t be cuter. I think I’m doing alright.. Have fun wearing your bicycle helmet and beating your hand against your chest!

Snydro, I take it back. Your a Larger Hawks fan than I thought. I to would love to see MO MO do some downhill blasting, it would fit with our Dees new hard-hitting attitude.
Blue, obnocksious maybe, but inocsious is out of my league.

Frank, thanks for the forum! The perfect ending to todays game would be Darrel Jackson short-arming the would be go-ahead-touchdown pass with :01 left on the clock.
