Right about now I’m extra glad that the Hawks have all skill weapons playing and on the field (except Bobby E.). Please just keep the youth potion away from Rod Smith please.

Lofa is a small MLB so he needs protection, otherwise he has to guess where the runner is going and he gets out of position. Same with Hill. So now that Tubbs isn’t occupying blocks they’re getting to the LB’s, which forces our Safeties to make (or miss) tackles. Davis is looking better, I thought he played well against GB, we need Rocky to sacrafice a bit on his pass rush to stuff the run too… he’s gotten that taste of fame, so this year he’s thinking sacks first. Darby and Terrill have looked good all year, Board needs to drill into these guys that without Tubbs, they all have to adjust their playing style, their going to have to stay with their blockers a little on possible run downs.

Poor tackling, overpursuit, and too much time on the field are probably bigger reasons.

But Tubbs does occupy multiple blockers. He’s the only guy we have that does that.

That Tubbs missed the St. Louis home game, the SF away game, and the Giants home game last year. In the St. Louis game Jackson ended up with 70 yards, but we dominated the game from early on.

In the SF game, Hicks had 80 yards and a 50 yd TD run, and in the Giants game, Barber had 151 yards rushing. But Clinton Portis had 90 yards, and Jackson had 77 yards in the other St. Louis game and Tubbs played. In fact Tubbs played in all 3 Regular season losses last year, and the Superbowl.

In 2004, he just didn’t play much. It’s just hard to verify. While I defer to Brock’s expertise, there doesn’t appear to be much in the way of statistical evidence to back up his claim of Tubbs as the catalyst for solid defensive play.

So, we’ve got to speculate that Brock is getting his information from other QBs, which makes sense. I guess the question would be if other teams have to specifically gameplan differently when Tubbs is in the game, and whether Seattle gameplans differently when he’s in there.

Doubt it heals very quickly given that he’ll be playing in pro football games. At this point I would not put much into any timetables, unless you think Bobby Engram is going to miss 1-2 weeks, or Shaun Alexander was going to miss a “couple three” weeks with that broken foot.

What’s your take on the Champ Bailey matchup?

If you’re Hasselbeck, do you even risk throwing at him?

Scouts Inc. is predicting that Champ Bailey will just defend the left side of the field rather than focusing in on Jackson or Branch. Are Holmgren and Hasselbeck prepared to surrender an entire side of the field like QB’s used to do when Deion Sanders was in his prime?

Lastly, Deion Branch had 8 catches for 153 yards against Denver in the playoffs last year. I’d have to imagine that Champ spent the bulk of that game *trying* to cover him. Just thought that was a telling stat…
