11 03 2006 WR Breakdown With Drops.jpgWe beefed up the WR chart to show dropped passes as well. What is a drop? My standard is high because these are pro athletes. Coaches tend to keep even higher standards. There were a couple on here that could have gone either way. I recall Nate Burleson dropping one against Chicago when the pass was behind him (he might have run a sloppy route, but for our purposes, it was behind him). I marked it as a drop because the ball hit both hands. These will always be subjective, but if a similar standard is applied, the numbers can be meaningful. Please let me know if you recall one of our drop-free players dropping a pass. I can go back and check it out. Thanks. Note that some passes were clearly thrown away or spiked, affecting the number of pass attempts.

Stats, etc.

  1. Didn’t Stevens drop a pass against the Vikings? There was a pass that was originally ruled a complete, but was over-ruled after being challenged by instant replay. Seems like if the refs first called it a catch, maybe he should have caught it.

I couldn’t really tell from our seats though. We had a bad angle.

  2. Just now on FSN Pro Football Preview they said that SA’s break is only 70% healed! They said that normally those type of breaks heal from the outside in and this one is healing from the bottom up. Whatever that means.

  3. I could’ve sworn there was at least once where I found myself shouting “D***it Mo! Hang on to that thing!” after a dropped screen pass. Ah well.

  4. Yeah. Morris has dropped at least 2 that I can remember. They were low throws, but this is the NFL. If you get your hands on it, catch it.

  5. XxXdragonXxX says:

Yeah…don’t know how you got zero drops for Morris, he dropped 2 in 1 game.

  6. Ladies and gentlemen, exhibit A in the case for Clutch Hackett…
