TNT’s All-State Football Team

Here is The News Tribune’s All-State football team. This includes players from all classifications. If you’re looking for an all-state football team for each classification, sports writers from around the state will vote on that after the season ends and the Associated Press will tally up the votes and release the team.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Jake Heaps, Quarterback, Skyline

6-2, 205, Senior
In three seasons as Skyline’s starting quarterback, Heaps has an overall record of 39-2 and 14-0 in the postseason. The BYU-bound signal caller will try to lead the Spartans to a third-consecutive state championship on Saturday. This season, Heaps has completed 198 of 328 passes for 2,936 yards and 41 touchdowns. He will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January at San Antonio.

Lakes senior selected to Army All-American game

Lakes lineman Siona Potoa’e has been selected to play in the 2010 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound senior is the third Lancer in three seasons to be chosen to play in the prestigious game.

On Thursday, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour will honor Potoa’e in a ceremony at Lakes’ new Performing Arts Center at 11 a.m. Potoa’e has given “soft” oral commitment to play at the University of Washington, though he has said he wants to take official visits to other schools to ensure that he makes the right decision.
