Lowdown: Puyallup shined its season-opener, dismantling Spanaway Lake 56-7. The Vikings rotated Trevor Lyon and Rhys Gervais at quarterback, with Lyon getting the majority of the snaps over Gervais, who joined the team shortly before the season. Lowdown: The Hornets and Panthers might not catch Lakes for the league title, but there’s plenty at stake in this game. The winner will have the inside track on taking second place, which guarantees a home game in the preliminary round of the state playoffs in Week 10. Enumclaw enters this game on an emotional high. The lowdown: The Seahawks and Panthers have each been tripped up once this season – Lakes beat both teams – but outside of their losses to the Lancers, Peninsula and Bonney Lake have been absolutely dominant. The Seahawks haven’t allowed more than a touchdown, while the Panthers’ have won each contest by at least 20 points.
