Baseball: Bethel’s Cory Nelson throws no-hitter

Bethel senior Cory Nelson threw a no-hitter game Tuesday night, beating Spanaway Lake 7-0.

Nelson, a right-hander, struck out 14 and walked none in the SPSL South contest. An error kept Nelson from a perfect game.

According to Nelson, there was a first-time spectator watching him pitch:

Baseball: Rogers High pitcher throws no-hitter

Rogers’ Heath Dempsey threw a no-hitter on Thursday, leading the Rams to a 3-0 win over Federal Way. Dempsey struck out seven in seven innings, beating Eagles pitcher Darrien Moran, who fanned 10 in seven innings.

Rogers scored its three runs in the fifth inning when the Rams benefited from a walk and two errors.
