Reclassification, new league change landscape for the 2012-13 school year

When fall sports begin in August, some schools will be in new classifications, some will be in new leagues and one new conference will have been created.

This change is a result of the WIAA’s two-year reclassification cycle — it should really move to a four-year cycle, but we’ll save that topic for another day — which begins in the fall. The WIAA has put together a list of all the leagues in the state that you can find here.

The biggest change is in Eastern Washington, where the Columbia Basin/Big 9 broke into three leagues: Mid-Columbia Conference 4A,
