Lakeside of Seattle boys 86, Lincoln 67 in 3A semifinal

Lincoln’s dream of winning a state title for the first time since 2002 came crashing down on Friday night, as the Abes were blown out by Lakeside in the Class 3A boys’ basketball semifinals at the Tacoma Dome.

Lakeside used a 3-point barrage to build an early lead and never looked back on the way to a 86-67 victory.

Lakeside (24-4) will face Rainier Beach in the 3A championship on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Metro League rivals faced each other three times already this season, with Rainier Beach prevailing twice.

Lakeside of Seattle boys 69, University 48 in 3A quarterfinals

Even when most people scattered out into night, the meaning from the nightcap was clear: Don’t sleep on the Lakeside of Seattle Lions in the Class 3A boys basketball tournament.

From pretty much start to finish, the No. 4 Lions controlled the action – and pulled away in the second quarter for a 69-48 victory over University in the 3A quarterfinals in the Tacoma Dome on Thursday night.

Lakeside is in the state semifinals for the first time since 1989 – the year the Lions went all the way to the championship game, losing to Chief Sealth
