Mount Tahoma stuns Sumner for first win
With less than two minutes left in the game, Mount Tahoma was staring at a sixth consecutive loss. The Thunderbirds had led Sumner the entire game, right up until Aaron Clark barrelled into the end zone for a 1-yard touchdown run that gave the Spartans the lead moments earlier.
Mount Tahoma did’t sulk. Didn’t quit. The T-birds answered by covering 88 yards in 1 minute, 22 seconds and quarterback Josh Lord culminated the drive by throwing a 22-yard touchdown pass to Mason Koester with 12 seconds left. The strike secured Mount Tahoma’s first win of the season, a 22-15 victory Thursday night at Sunset Chev Stadium.
“We went to the spread and worked the clock,” Mount Tahoma coach Kevin Hanis said. “We made catches we needed to make. Our kids did what they had to do.”
Mount Tahoma running back Keonta’ Davis scored the T-birds’ first two touchdowns.
