Football: Complete look at Week 10 state play-in matchups

Below, you will find Week 10 state play-in matchups for Class 4A, Class 3A, Class 2A and Class 1A. We’ve also got Class 2B matchups, courtesy of Chad Dinkins from

I’ll update this post throughout the weekend. By Saturday evening, we should have complete look at the Week 10 state play-in round games.

Game times, dates are TBA unless noted

*Winners of odd numbered games will advance to play at winners of even-numbered games in first round of state playoffs. For instance, if Union wins Game 1, it could play at Kentlake, possible winner of Game 2, in the first round of the state playoffs.
**Teams locked into seeds are bolded.

GAME 1: SPSL North No. 3 Tahoma at GSHL No. 2 Union (winner is placed on state bracket as District 4 No. 2), 7 p.m. Friday

GAME 2: WESCO No. 4 Mariner at SPSL North No. 1 Kentlake (winner is placed on state bracket as District 3 No. 2), 7:30 p.m. Friday

Football: Ferris-Bellarmine Prep preview capsule

Bellarmine Prep (11-1) vs. No. 3 Ferris (12-0), 5 p.m. Monday, Tacoma Dome
Live updates: You can find live updates of the game here on the Prep Blog during the game
Radio: None
Lowdown: Too much snow on the turf and no way to remove it forced this game to be played today in Tacoma, instead of Saturday in Spokane. The postponed game doesn’t provide a huge boost to either team – Bellarmine Prep spent two days in a bus, crisscrossing the state – but Ferris might even have a slight edge because the Saxons played on the Tacoma Dome’s slick surface and cavernous atmosphere last season and the Lions have no experience playing in the venue. The only winners? Read more »

Football: Semifinal preview capsules

No. 5 Lakes (11-1) vs. No. 1 Bellevue (11-1), 7 p.m. Friday, Tacoma Dome
KJR 950 AM
Lowdown: Because of its precise execution of counters, traps and other misdirection plays, two-time defending champion Bellevue’s wing-T offense is incredibly difficult to prepare for. Lakes lost out on valuable practice time this week because bad weather and driving conditions cancelled school. Lakes has overcome plenty of obstacles already this season, so what’s one more? If the Lancers can stay home on defense and keep the Wolverines’ big-play capabilities in check, Lakes will have an opportunity to knock Bellevue off its championship pedestal. Read more »

Prep Football: Trip around the state

Once again, it’s time for our weekly trip around the state. With the postseason drawing near, I’ve compiled some links that relate to legues and teams outside of the TNT’s coverage area that will likely make the playoffs so South Sound fans can stay apprised of what’s going on outside our region.

Issaquah, last season’s Class 4A runner-up, began the season as top-5 team. But the Eagles struggled early, losing to Bothell and Mount Si in the first two weeks of the season. Since then, Issaquah has won three in a row, including last week’s impressive 14-13 victory over former top-10 team Eastlake. The Eagles have been without running back Grant Gellatly for much of the season, but appear to be molding themselves back into a playoff contender.
