Emerald Ridge football team appears in SI

Readers of Sports Illustrated should be familiar with the magazine’s “Go Figure” feature. In this week’s edition, the Emerald Ridge football team was singled out.

Here’s the copy:

5: Co-head varsity football coaches employed by Emerald Ridge (Wash.) High.

19: Consecutive losses by the Emerald Ridge Jaguars, before they won last Friday.

Now, there’s not a lot of context there. Most of us in the South Sound know that the five co-head coaches took over this season, so only five losses are on their shoulders. And I suspect if Emerald Ridge had one head coach there’s almost no chance

Girls Soccer: State First Round Results

Here’s a roundup of how South Sound girls soccer teams fared in first round state tournament games Tuesday night. Click on “CLASS” for links to each state bracket.

CLASS 4A
Monroe 5, Emerald Ridge 1:
The Bearcats scored the upset of the first round, knocking off the previously undefeated Jaguars (18-1-0).

Issaquah 3, Bellarmine Prep 0: Kristen Maris scored three goals as the Eagles ended Bellarmine Prep’s season. The Narrows League regular season champions finish the season at 18-3-1.
