An all-state linebacker for the Hornets in 2000, Sprouse says he’s living his childhood dream coaching at White River.

South Sound All-Stars take on UW today at Husky Stadium

I’m at Husky Stadium, helping out with coverage of the Eastern Washington University vs. University of Washington game.

Checking out EWU, it’s hard to not notice all the South Sound football players on the Eagles. You could fill out a starting lineup on both sides of the ball plus a kicker and punter with guys that played high-school ball in the area.

On EWU’s roster, there are 24 players that attended a South Sound high school and 10 are listed as starters. Of that two-dozen, 14 were members of The News Tribune’s All-Area football team in various seasons.

Here are the Eagles with South Sound connections:
DB Ron Baines, Mount Tahoma

RB Darriell Beaumonte, Clover Park

TE Jason Boyce, Kentwood

RB Demitrius Bronson, Kentwood

*DB Allen Brown, Foss

TOM LARSEN, Bellarmine Prep

CO-COACH OF THE YEAR
DAVE MILLER, Lakes
Bio:
This season might be Miller’s best coaching performance in his 11 years as Lakes’ head coach. Lakes won its third straight SPSL 3A title and reached the semifinals for the third year in a row, despite beginning the season with only four starters, losing six players for the season because of injuries and the team bus getting in a wreck on the way to a game.
